well.......
For the first 2/3 I thought it was GREAT. Funny, well written and really sinister and creepy when things began to take a turn for the worse.
Then there's the reveal of Justin Long as a walrus.... to me it just looked ridiculous.
Any horror/ suspense/ foreboding that had been built up instantly evaporated.
I don't know if it was "supposed" to look ridiculous, as a pastiche on the likes of Human Centipede.
I just feel it underwhlemed all the good work it had done up until that point.
I was expecting a more anthropomorphised Walrus, ie: when he was operating on him, I was expecting him to be grafting fins and tusks onto his body and chopping off limbs.
Rather what we ended up with was someone in a very fake and ridiculous looking "walrus suit".
Apart from the look of the "walrus" - I thought the film was great.
It's depiction just took me out of it and was detrimental to the film as a whole.
A solid 8/10 horror film was reduced to a 6/10. For me anyway.
Mr Annnderson.....!
I found it overall entertaining but could have been better. Although it was a lot better than I thought it would be based on the plot.

I loved it, too. Great, twisted story. I saw it twice in theaters and laughed from beginning to end each time. Now that I have the blu-ray, it's my favorite movie to show guests when they come over. Howard Howe is now one of my favorite all-time movie villains, and Guy LaPointe is one of my favorite characters ever.

Just watched it last night!I had fun, there's was suspense, la laugh, the dialog sounded like Kevin Smith dialogue, everything was great. The editing was original and add to the movie. Absolutely loved it too! :)

Original is not the good word, but the fact that the story back up a bit in time and we see some part of the story from different point of view add to the movie because it would had go nowhere fast. The 'raid' at the end made me think of Red State.
shareThanks for writing this, I was disheartened with all the negative comments on here.
In April of 2016, this movie is still on my mind.
I think it's one of Kevin's most challenging and entertaining adventures yet.
The whole thing feels like a B movie that just builds insane suspense and then just crashes into insanity in a wonderfully disturbing and hilarious way.
I have NEVER seen anything that manages to mix actual disturbing imagery with humor this well before. It's certainly not Depp's best performance, but you can tell the guy's just having fun, and the rest of the cast delivers weirdly believable performances with a script that is pure bonkers.
I think people who "get" the humor of movies like Freddy Got Fingered and The Room might enjoy this.
