Not funny at all. Really scraped the barrel and I'm a long term fan.

Was so looking forward to this. Have all the series dvds and loved the 1st movie. What a let down. Hardly any story. It's like the writers just said 'let's throw as many sex references as we can' and it just gets monotonous and frankly quite boring. The paedo pool scene just isn't funny nor is drinking urine or jokes about beastiality. I'm no prude but this just went too far. I think everyone will see that this really is the last but what an anticlimax to end it all. Easy money I'd say for the cast and producers of this rubbish.never thought I'd say all this about the brilliant Inbetweeners :-(

I enjoyed it more than the first movie, but both movies are a huge letdown compared to the series.

The series was brilliant, the first movie very good, this was terrible. Even the quality of the leads' acting had dipped - I assume that was down to the director. The script was non-existent and the "dying in the sun" scene was interminable and unfunny. A very sad way to end a phenomenon.

Dude, I totally agree with you... Your brief paragraph sums up exactly everything that I feel about it too. Nuff said! =O)

I am a huge fan of the series, but feel like both movies are subpar in quality, and my first impressions of the 2nd one is that it's rank and atrocious, conspicuously superfluous.

Maybe i'll take some more time to sort my thoughts out on it later, but it seemed like a comprehensive waste of a story. Basically, if we're going to retread these characters as inflexible loosers who make the same mistakes their whole life, at least they can put a little more effort in the comedy. At this point, Jay getting a kick out of labelling Simon a pedophile is sadly predictable. The main plot of Will with the spiritualists was easy to predict too.

This was basically an even less stellar retread of a movie that was merely a subpar retread of a pretty funny show.

Sorry i thought the 'paedo pool' scene frickin' hilarious! In fact all the scenes in the waterpark had me crying with laughter!

If you like the series and the first film then i don't understand why you didn't find this funny. Love Will's singing scene as well and his brilliant rant at the white dreadlocked guy!

I didn't really like the first movie, but found the series very funny. Perhaps its because the charm from the series to me was the complete dedication to absolutely awful, hopeless and anti-social behavior these four losers displayed. The stories were mostly pointless and focused on etching into the loser mentality of each character. To be honest, I even felt the 3rd series was starting to stretch the premise a bit, with very little character development, so it doesn't surprise me that the movies have been dismal.

To be clear, I liked the show, but the inherent flaws which are less noticeable in a sitcom/quick 20-minute style show such as two-dimensional characterization, lazy plotting, stupid stories and an abundance of tropes, are much more noticeable and bothersome in a feature length film. Basically, this premise was at its best in quick doses, but 1.5-2 hours of four guys playing out the same jokes and looking, but not acting, much older than their 16-year-old counterparts at the beginning of the series seems to reinforce one of my worse fears, that the fans of this show just want the same thing, over, and over, and over, and over. During the 2nd movie I kept wondering: why? What's here that wasn't in the 18-episodes or 1st movie?

I have a different take. I am a relative 'newcomer' to Inbetweeners. I've watched most of the series and have now seen both movies after first discovering them about a year ago. I am also not the typical age range of their demographic, I am 55 years old and American. For some odd reason I still enjoy high-school/college humor, even with the younger generation.

I enjoyed both the movies but the first may have been slightly better. I think it is perfectly natural and normal for there to be a drop-off in terms of quality over time for shows like this. It is very difficult to write original comedy over a long period of time and still remain fresh and creative. You literally just run out of things that are great ideas and start having to come up with half-way decent ideas instead. Think about it... you can't write the same jokes over and over, it's just not funny. You can't copy jokes from others, that's plagiarizing and someone will call you on it. So you are left pondering what hasn't been done and there are often reasons it hasn't been done.

That being understood, I think the writers did the best they could to bring fans something they would enjoy watching. Lots of memorable scenes in this movie that are new and fresh ideas which were pretty funny. Is this their "Maximus Opus?" Well, no, but is that what you expected really?

I have to disagree. I thought the first movie was pretty average, this was definitely a step up.

Get on the scale! Get off the scale.

the two worst scenes was the dog licking the balls, and the pooping on himself and poo falling down the water slide. i mean wtf.. 😨

i've got feelings too, ya know - inbetweeners

reply

So so disagree. There were enough comic sequences to keep me entertained

1. The guys finding out Joe works in a toilet
2. The conversation with the uncle
3. Will's interaction with Katie
4. Will's singing
5. Will's rant at the campfire

The only weak thing i found was the ending. The first movie had an awesome ending, heroic almost where Simon dives for Lucy. This movie's ending was a bit stretched and boring.
