Dolphin scene (spoilers)

Overall very laugh out loud, maybe could have been a bit more interaction with the 4 of them and 'proper aussies' but good fun.

However

The scene where Neil killed the dolphin was met with awkward silence in the packed cinema I was in. Not sure how or why the producers thought that was funny - laughing at dead dolphins ? Realise it's just a fake etc but just wasn't in the spirit of the rest of the film.

8/10 for me.

Everyone laughed in the cinema last night as did I. What's wrong with laughing at dead dolphins? Is this some new type of taboo I dont know about??

reply

You kill a dolphin and then laugh at it, and it's funny? You are a psycho.

I couldn't agree with you more. I honestly found it sad and disturbing. I don't understand how or why some people think causing harm to animals is funny. I didn't find it funny in the first movie or the TV series either. I, too, wish they'd just take that scene out.
But apart from that, love the movies and series!

reply

Agreed. That was a stupid scene and it wasn't needed, the audience in my cinema was also very quiet during it.

It's a comedy film. No Dolphins actually died.
I agree it would have been extremely sad and distressing if Neil had hacked the Dolphin to death with a machete but it died because he thought he was treating it to an improved diet.
Neil was acting in ignorance not hatred and a well-trained Dolphin was just pretending to be dead which is what made the scene funny.
Now everyone can stop worrying.
