Bautista = Tong Po?

Is Bautista even remotely Asian? I honestly don't know, but he certainly doesn't look it...

And does he have any experience with kickboxing or Muay Thai?

Batista is Filipino and he is a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu
He has had one pro fight. I am fine with him being part of this movie,I only have mixed feelings about Scott Adkins since his role is probably going to be minor

Batista pro fight was a joke he looked awful and it was clearly against a journey man who was paid to lose. After that embarrassment he quickly left real fighting alone and returned to the WWE where you only need to look the part.

Still as this is film it does not matter as Batista does look really intimidating and that works well for the main bad guy.

Scott Adkins is pretty good as Uri Boyka

Don't really like his other acting films like in Ninja

reply

Even though the movie sucked he was good as the Villain in Hercules and I thought he did good in El Gringo

Yes he will

He's too big and buffed to be a Thai fighter in my book. Comparing him to the original Tong Po would be like comparing the Street Fighter 3 character HUGO to Sagat. He is more of a Hugo or Zangeif body type than a Thai Kickboxers.

He's half white, half filipino. His mom is a big white woman, I think she is over 6' tall. I watched him hit the heavy bag at a gym in LA a few years ago, he is fvckin beastmode. He will make the best Tong Po ever. Van damme was never a good real fighter but he was the greatest ever on film.

Plus it was his time in a real fight. It takes fighters years to get used to that feeling. Much different than sparring. I believe if he wasn't so famous he would've stuck with it and gotten better. But its when everyone in the media is talking $hit about you.

Do you even have a clue what your talking about? Van Damme has a semi contact record of 44 victories and 4 defeats. With a full contact record of 18 victories and 1 defeat with the 18 victories coming by knockout. Too me that qualifies you as a good fighter.

Their is a lot of truth in this, however you can also normally see talent as well and he did not demonstrate any in that fight. Of course that is not to say he could not improve and maybe he would have become a capable fighter over time, and he did have the balls to give it a go at the end of the day.

Does it matter if he's asian or not? Mohamed Qissi (the original Tong Po) doesn't look asian either, he had to go through a makeup process to make him look asian.

As per the picture below:

reply

Michel Qissi wasn't Asian. It was all makeup to make him look Thai.

And even after all the make up he looked more demon than Thai. js.

Tong Po is from Thailand. I don't understand Bautista as Tong Po at all. Tony Jaa as Tong Po would make more sense as he's an expert at Muay Thai. This is very confusing. I would love to see a Bloodsport remake, but only if they use someone like Scott Adkins or Michael Jai White as Frank Dukes.

Frank Dux from Bloodsport? You mean Kurt Sloane, don't you? Also, as skilled as Tony looks, compared to other actors he's a too short to look intimidating.

reply

No he doesnt, as if you read his post right he was talking about a Bloodsport remake which was about Frank Dukes not Kurt Sloane

reply

You do realise that the original Tong Po was played by a Moroccan ( North Africa) :)
