I thought he was great! My favourite character by far and although I fast fast forwarded a few bits of the movie I would happily re-watch his scenes

The film itself was okay. Not God awful.
But he had me howling.
He's always good at whatever he does. I could watch him pick his nose for an hour! Lol

shareI think he was playing a parody of his usual screen persona. All he needed to do was be just a *little* more over the top. It seemed that he could have been describing events from his other films when he said things like, "You really think you're ready for the field? I once used defibrillators on myself. I put shards of glass in my *beep* eye. I've jumped from a high-rise building using only a raincoat as a parachute and broke both legs upon landing; I still had to pretend I was in a *beep* Cirque du Soleil show! I've swallowed enough microchips and *beep* them back out again to make a computer. This arm has been ripped off completely and re-attached with *this* *beep* arm." I agree with others that this movie wasn't as bad as I expected.
The universe is a big place, perhaps the biggest. Buy the ticket, take the ride.

When he was describing each of those ridiculous moments I was like "Hey, didn't he do something similar to that in Crank?" And then later I was like "Wait, he did that at the beginning of The Transporter!" but yeah, they turned it up a notch to make it just a tad more silly. I thought they kind of made his character a little too goofy by the end, and I thought the bumbling-bravado worked well in the early and middle parts of the film but having him turn slapstick at the end was just kind of dumb.
It should've had a scene where Statham was immensely efficient, maybe a fight scene or a stunt scene where he nails it. This would have been badass yet hilarious because then it leaves McCarthy and the audience wondering "Well what if he really isnt blowing smoke about some of his ranting" xD and it would explain why he is still around as a Spy.

shareI liked the film too. it delivered as promised as a fun action comedy. anyone that was expecting a true bond film was delusional.
Agreed. At first I thought Statham was out of place in this comedy but by the end of the movie it was his character that actually made me laugh the most.
