7.6....you are all drunk

I'm guessing you all don't watch horror films a lot Because this film is not original at all. I think this film is popular because it has a bigger production budget and professional known actors. However, the plot is as cookie cutter straight forward and predictable as ever. This why I hate imdb sometimes....inflated ridiculous scores. This is a 6.5 at best.

Just because something isn't that original doesn't mean it's not good. You could not possibly be more wrong.

No one is insinuating that originality is the end all, but a film still needs to have something "special" to be rated this highly. IMO, this film does not meet that standard. It is just a run of the mill horror film.

Yep, decent entertainment but incredibly cookie cutter and generic. Today's horror fans must have extremely low standards.

it's not about originality, it's about how well it is made. Just ask pretty much every movie ever made. Nothing is ever truly original.

The shining is one of the greatest horror films ever made.
Its about a haunted hotel, how original is that.

The Shining is not a good example to prove your point. While its basic premise might not be totally original, it is a film chock full of iconic scenes that have stood the test of time, scenes that are now part of movie making lore. Is there a single scene in The Conjuring 2 that will be remembered with the same degree of fondness 30-40 years from now?

reply

true but just cause the film isn't gonna be remembered decades from now doesn't mean its not good.

I don't know. If this is a horror movie, then it gets an F from me. I watched it yesterday at night with the lights off etc. etc., and not once did I felt scared. I actually at one point felt myself becoming Sergey Belyakov (from Nasha Rusha sketch show) by commenting what is happening to myself like 'Oh, gee, I guess the grandpa ghost is molesting her now.', 'Oh, you stupid twat, why are you going to your fake tent in the middle of the night. You wanna die?' 'Oh, really, based on true events? True events my ass'. Man, the show for a horror movie is pretty terrible. It gets an F from me. However, I gave it a 6 for a not so mediocre story for a mystic movie. But as I've said - not even scary. The first one had at last at first a dreadful atmosphere, but this one... I can't stop laughing.
