This episode was so rushed it was pathetic

Seriously, Lalo is going to pull the quintessential villain and instead of just whacking Gus he allows Gus to give Don Eladio his last thoughts on him? I know Gus had to live but seriously what a cliche' lame way to go.

Would have been better if Mike or even Kim or Saul killed Lalo, but the way it was done was rushed like the writers were off that week and hired replacements.

And this is how we lead into the shock of Howard's death?

reply

Saul could not have killed Lalo. He is still afraid of him 4 years later and doesn't know he is dead. That eliminates Kim too.

reply

Then Mike or someone else on Gus's crew that wouldn't have made it as lame as this episode.

6/10.

reply

Doesnt mike tell him that lalo is gone at the end of the episode though?

reply

Notice how Mike didn't tell Saul that Lalo was dead, he just said he won't be coming back, and he said it twice as if to imply death. Saul obviously doesn't get it though.

He got cocky. It happens. He underestimated Gus.

That seems to happen to the Salamanca’s a lot. The same with Don Eladio.

Yeah I agree, I know there was a lot of hype around this episode but it seemed to lack the intensity I was expecting. I wasn't really surprised with any "twists" either. The whole climax with Gus and Lalo in the lab felt pretty slow and drawn out. Lalo deciding to take his time with Gus makes sense considering his character is arrogant and overconfident, but he's still not a total idiot. Tbh I kept expecting Kim to come in behind and be the one to kill Lalo even if that wouldnt totally make sense...I guess the series has just kinda spoiled me and its hard for a series to not peeter out eventually.

See this is the problem with prequels you can only limit what you can do in your story, or you can fall into the George lucas star wars trap of trying to fit everything in for a fan service way that everything fits to suit the world that everybody knew everyone in some way.

It wasn't rushed you are just feeling that way because we had a 6 week break from the show and this probably felt like episdoe 1 of a season to you. the lead up to that moment had happened the last few episodes

reply

Yeah, I don’t know how 5 seasons leading up to Gus and Lalo facing off could be considered rushed.

reply

Nacho got to have his say too before he died.

reply

This was pure revenge he'd been planning for some time. He was even recording it, so he could share and relish the moment. He wanted to draw it out so Gus could wallow in defeat while he was still alive. I think it fit very well that he didn't just whack him.

reply

I agree the Lalo death was disappointing. That the shrewd and calculating Gus Fring had to resort to blindly firing into the dark to get him was....cheap.
