Kim?

What will happen to her? She's not in Breaking Bad so that raises all kinds of possibilities, including her death.

Oh man, good point. I hadn't even thought about that, but you're right! She never shows up, does she? Is she ever mentioned during Breaking Bad at all? If not, you may be onto something. Maybe the show will have to address that at some point. If not, it's kind of a big plot hole...

When Better Call Saul began, I just assumed Kim must die because she's never mentioned in Breaking Bad. But as the show progressed my view on this changed. One thing we have to remember is that in Breaking Bad, we for the most part only see Saul through the eyes of Walt and Jesse. And they're his clients, not his friends so having no discussion about Saul's personal life isn't all that unusual. My guess is that all the black and white "Gene" vignettes that we've seen bookending the seasons are building to some sort of post-Breaking Bad closure for the Jimmy/Kim relationship. Whether that closure will be good or devastating I really don't know. The amazing thing about this show is that they've presented characters that aren't particularly deserving of a happy ending, but they have fans (at least this fan) hoping for it anyway.

The idea of Kim surviving and still being close to Saul as she is here, but simply being in the background during Breaking Bad, might be kind of weird with that show now, and it would be a bit of a cop out with this one. In building up to align with the events before Saul is introduced in BB, I believe they'll either kill her off or send her away somewhere. Those to me are the only 2 options available for her fate. It'll be interesting to see how they write it because the Saul we see in BB looks unaffected and if anything a more enthusiastic version than the one in BCS.

I think Kim is in prison. The garish house we see in the flash forward clearly doesn’t have any signs of her presence. And yet, Jimmy’s happy go lucky attitude in BB speaks to the fact that he has something to live for in his life. I think he is feathering the nest for her release from prison, but then things in BB fall apart and he has to flee. His visits to her in prison are discontinued and he has no other contact with her.

You could be right. That would make more sense with his personality in BB. If she was killed or dead, Jimmy would be heartbroken at this point and it'd be kind of difficult to believe he got over it to become even more like the Saul we see later on.

In Green Light, the fourth episode of Breaking Bad 's third season, Saul says to Walter White, " I caught my second wife screwing my stepdad."

If Kim is in prison, then they have to be divorced, to leave enough time for Saul to marry and divorce a 2nd time!

reply

Kim is Jimmy's third wife, not the 2cd

reply

NO WAY There would be a plot hole that big! Something will happen to Kim that will make sense in the Breaking Bad universe.

Imagine the people who are waiting for BCS to end before starting their first viewing of Breaking Bad. I can’t wait to see the reviews.

I've had a healthy debate with others on the proper viewing order. I've always said BB, Camino, BCS. But as BCS moves forward, I can honestly see people years from now watching them in BCS, BB, Camino order, why not.

I think it makes more sense to start with the Meth and then learn the backstory of it all, but maybe it's just as interesting to watch BCS first. It's an interesting perspective to get to know Saul and Mike prior to BB. But neither of them appear in SEASON 1, so it will require some patience!

She and Nacho were in the same boat. They were main characters in this show, but they weren’t there in Breaking Bad.

Nacho died, so I think they give Kim a different conclusion: witness protection.
