Nothing shall match the original

Ms Peña and Tim Robbins had something about them that gave the story an ephemera no one could ever match, a moment of time we are all privileged to share by watching this haunting story.

This one has black people.

Oh, please. The movie was a ripoff, Carnival of Souls meets the Twilight Zone meets Angel Heart. Even Uwe Boll could've shat out something more original.

You seem a happy soul

Instead of insulting me, why don't you actually watch Carnival of Souls and Angel Heart? Then watch a couple of Twilight Zone episodes based around death ("The After Hours", "Next Stop Willoughby", "Perchance to Dream")? See how well Jacob's Ladder holds up after you watch these, LOL.

reply

I am not sure how the original ripped iff Carnival of Souls or Angel Heart. All three movies are far removed from one another aside from having a twist ending.

reply

"Oh please" I wasn't insulting you ...LOL

reply

Well, maybe Carnival of Souls is a bit similar, but actually Jacob's Ladder was inspired by a much older story, An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge, which is a very short story in comparison. There are a lot of other themes in Jacobs Ladder, it is not a straight copy of An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge, and certainly not Carnival of Souls.

The whole movie had a subtly off kilter, at times surreal feel to it. Set the ending up nicely.

Also very hard to duplicate.

Who can forget the "Is anybody in there!" scene.
