Do they really expect us to believe that isn't a few people constantly near the camp with airhorns and high powered rifles? They just leave it to chance that the contestants wont be torn to pieces by lions or trampled by rhinos or something. Sure.

But when they’re wading through murky, shoulder-high water, that gets a bit more tricky in terms of protecting them.
Also, walking around in dense rainforest, there must be constant risk of accidental contact with spiders, snakes, etc.
I suppose for the spiders and snakes they have a complete medical team with anti-venoms.
