Why would Reese Witherspoon, an Academy Award winning actress, choose to sign onto such a flimsy movie? The film only got 7% on Rotten Tomatoes. When an actor signs onto a movie like this, is it just hard for them to tell in the beginning how bad it's going to be?
shareFirst of all, as she has said in many interviews, Reese had creative control of this film, along with Sofia Vergara. Reese said she pitched several ideas to Sofia who ok'd the outline of this one. Second of all, both Reese and Sofia are producers. That means they had control in hiring the screenwriters and the director.
This film, at the very least, is a case of arrogance meeting ineptitude.
It's not what a movie is about, it's how it is about it.

She was heavily involved with creating this garbage. It's just her thinking since she did Wild, she can do whatever she wants and it'll be successful.
