Am I the only one that enjoyed this movie?
I don't get the harsh criticism. I thought it was hilarious.
shareI don't get the harsh criticism. I thought it was hilarious.
shareDidn't think it was "hilarious" but it was pretty fun -- Reese Witherspoon did a great job with her character. You know, it was no Wild, but fine to watch on DVD, demand etc.
shareIt wasn't great, but I found it enjoyable enough. I do wish I saw it on On Demand/Netflix instead of in the theater. I don't think it's worth the harsh criticism though.
shareI watched it for what it is, a light, funny, girlie flick and it didn't disappoint. I wasn't expecting an Oscar worthy film and it was far from one. But was it enjoyable? I thought so.
shareFirst, to address those who think a movie should be judged by the number of tickets it sells:
Box Office Mojo reports that "Hot Pursuit" earned $51M worldwide (150% of its production budget, which makes it a minor hit).
2014's Oscar winner for Best Picture, "Birdman," earned $60M worldwide.
"Birdman" is brilliant. "Hot Pursuit" is ridiculous. I own the DVDs of both movies.
"Hot Pursuit" appeals to those of us who like The Three Stooges and the Marx Brothers. Its not meant to be taken seriously. But the internet is over-run with wannabe film critics who all want to write for New Yorker magazine, so they pounce on fun, funny movies like "Hot Pursuit," pedantically pointing out its plot holes, logic gaps and factual errors while never telling us if they laughed or smiled.
No surprise since the thing that makes them smile most is feeling superior to people like me who can have a dozen good laughs and be satisfied.
Sad, sad Eeyores.
I'd never think that a movie like this should be taken seriously and I really like certain kind of absurd, wacky, even nonsensical comedies. However, for me "Hot Pursuit" was just awfully unfunny and cringeworthy with little to none redeeming qualities. I smirked maybe twice during the whole movie and I don't think for reasons intended by the screenwrites (since you are interested in the count). It was almost physically painful to watch.
Which means that there is not even the need to discuss "plot holes", logic or anything to call this movie a complete disaster. Ok, since taste and particularly humor are very diverse I can certainly appreciate the fact that some people like it. But I must admit that I find it hard to not consider someone as severely mentally challenged who thinks that this movie is "hillarious" or great..
Troll Alert!
sharePlease don't mention this movie along with the Marx Brothers and the Three Stooges.
shareThis movie blows like a cheap hooker.
State champ in martial arts, trained with firearms, I eFF'n dare you!

as a sociologist, i would like to make a study on you
shareAfter hearing all the negative reviews I wasn't expecting much. But I really enjoyed it too. It made me laugh, and the two female leads worked well together.
