Better than Dazed and Confused

Recently rewatched dazed and confused, before watching this movie and for me this is a superior upgrade in multiple ways.

The pacing of jokes, humour, wit was nonstop for two hours. More likeable and interesting characters, the oddballs have their shining moments in the movie.

I will say, the soundtrack in dazed and confused might be better than this one depending on your taste. But the car ride scene within the first 10 minutes was great.

Agreed! I enjoyed every minute of this film.

I thought Dazed and Confused was much better. But this was still quite entertaining. I agree with you that the car ride scene early on in the movie was excellent. In fact, it was probably my favorite scene in the movie.

Stop it.

Anybody who thinks this movie is better than Dazed and Confused is either lying or out of their mind. If you're part of the movie's promo team or have family/friends attached to the movie, you might say that as well.

Other than that, you can't possibly think this movie is better than Dazed and Confused.

I love them equally I think...dazed and confused has a bit more depth to it in the character department...

Well personally I don't think it's better, or quite as good as "Dazed & Confused," but it's done in the same style and format as the earlier film. In fact I was wondering if this is a kind of sequel to Dazed, following the little freshman guy, grown up and starting college. He was playing baseball in high school, so it makes sense that he continued playing. Neither film had any real story or action. Dazed is just about a couple days at the end of the school year, while "Everybody Wants Some" is a look at a couple days before school begins. Both movies are filled with memorable characters and similar situations. I don't get how someone could like one movie and not the other..they are both fun as hell. I think people just like to bitch about stuff.

Dazed and Confused is heads and shoulders above this movie.

Dazed and Confused is miles ahead of this movie in every possible aspect. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this movie, but Dazed is an all time classic, and arguably the greatest coming of age teen movie of all time. Even classics like Fast Times at Ridgemont High aren't on the same level as Dazed.

Dazed perfectly captures so much of life throughout high school, more than I ever thought any movie could be capable of: The Incoming freshman who are going from top of the totem pole of middle school to the absolute bottom, trying to find their new place by growing up very quickly and earing the respect of the upperclassmen by paying their dues.

The excitement of the last day of school and students doing whatever they please.

A small-town with a small school where everybody know everybody. Not everyone grew up with this obviously, but I did and I am grateful for it.

The longing to be done already and get the hell out of the town you grew up in, not realizing how much you'll miss it later.

All the stereotypical personalities of high school, including the type who stays in the same town after high school and can't move on from high schoolers.

The struggle of finding somewhere for everyone to party.

And most importantly, the feeling of reliving one of your last great nights of your high school years that you get when you watch this movie. Very rarely is a movie able to make me feel as though I truly experienced it.

I kinda like them both, but neither is anywhere close to Fast Times or Animal House. Not even close to Revenge of the Nerds or The Hollywood Knights.

I agree, this film is slightly better than Dazed. I've loved Dazed for many, many years, I've seen it so many times. However I really felt Everybody had even better subtle undertones of intelligence throughout, and overall was just a more balanced film as you alluded to. The critics seem to like this a little more than Dazed as well. I don't always agree with critical consensus but I do in this case.

To you morons who watched the film, but yet missed it entirely, the original reaction to Dazed was exactly the same. Many people felt it was a boring film about nothing. Now it's considered a massive classic. The same thing will happen with this film undoubtedly.

My body's a cage, it's been used and abused...and I...LIKE IT!!

Agreed. Also much better in terms of production quality and acting.
