Unbeatable demon / curse
Like others have said, if this demon / spirt / curse, whatever it is , seems completely unbeatable no matter what the host tries, then it kinda makes what comes before the finale redundant.
It seems this demon can virtually do anything and remain undefeated.
And this in and out of dream / reality sequences grows tiresome after a while if the protagonist has no hope.
