Was okay. but couldn't get past differences in physical attractiveness

A poor Jon Favreau is not going to receive affection from a wealthy Sophia Vergara. Also, is not going to bed a Scarlett Johansson.

OP, people are coming for you for saying this but its true.

Not only is it true, think about how often Hollywood does this type of pairing - a beautiful woman can be paired up with a poor ordinary looking slob but how often is the *opposite* done? How often do you see a gorgeous looking man with someone who looks like Melissa McCarthy? The answer is never. Its such a double standard.

There are two things that many men completely fail to understand about women. The first is that a man doesn't have to look like a stereotypically handsome movie star -- Redford, Pitt, Cruise, etc. -- to be attractive to women. Many men that other men think are average looking at best are considered very appealing by many women. The second thing is that women don't judge men just by our looks. There are other qualities that can spark a woman's interest. I find that it tends to be young men, inexperienced men, or men who just don't know how to connect to women who find it difficult to believe that an "average looking" man can hook up with beautiful women.

Only part of the movie that ruined it. Fat Fav would never score Vergara or ScarJo.

Yep, I agree.

And it's not like the message at the bottom of all this is particularly profound or new.......Hollywood and TV constantly pair below average men with incredibly beautiful ladies, and we're supposed to buy it because the man might be charming or smart or whatever but in all these scenarios they never ask us to find the womens inner beauty.

According to most movies average looking women exist at all, they're certainly not deserving of love, even from guys who are their equals.

I tried to take your comment seriously, but couldn't get past your shallowness

Word.

Typical woman: "It's all about personality, and he's a nice guy that can cook! Don't be so shallow!!!"
Me: "But would you go for him?"
Typical woman: Uhh, well he's not exactly my type, but I'm sure there are plenty of women that would want him.
