Was bachelorette a popular term then?

I am not sure which season it was, but the episode is entitled "In Perfect Unity". Rosemary organized a bridal party for Clara, she later called it a bachelorette party. Considering the setting is the early 1900's, I was a bit surprised. I figured the term became popular around 20-25 years ago.

Bachelorette, as a word, first appeared in 1896. I'm almost 65 years old and I recall hearing the word when I was a child.
