Don’t get the hype
Half way through and still don’t get the hype. Sure it’s watchable but it’s not spectacular as I was led to believe it would be.

shareyeah, i got sucked in and quit watching after episode 6. i feel like such a sucker for getting drawn in. after episode 6, i told myself that "nothing happened" in that episode, and realized i was being strung along. maybe i'll watch a youtube video compilation with the best parts in a year or two though. i mean there's like 4 or 5 scenes that were cool, but they're so few and far in between.
shareWhich hype did you read? The network's hype or someone else's?
shareFor me I was resistant to this series from the beginning. I did not really like the opening, or the continuity, and it did not really fit my visions of the book that I had read like 50 years ago or whatever.
I was thinking crew washes up on beach and gets beat up and almost killed by Japanese samurai ... and peed on of course. ;-) But almost the entire movie was filmed in cloudy rainy days, and I think that was a big mistake.
However, as the series went on, I started to like it, in particular Middle Eastern looking Cosmo Jarvis' ( what a name for an actor ) channeling Richard Burton as the swashbuckling hero. He did a good job despite the fact that Blackthorne/Adams would have looked nothing like Cosmo Jarvis, and as I've posted elsewhere looked like this"

More like Richard Chamberlain, Eric Clapton, David Bowie ... red-faced Limeys from the Southeast of England.
It was way too dull. I quit it simewhere in ep 5 and was surprised I made it that far.
shareone reason to watch is the costumes and sets better than most cops and robber shows that you probably think are great
shareThe hype was after couple episodes, when it was kinda interesting. After episode 6 they dragged shit out and the last ep was just race to wrap it up. Did they always meant to do just 10 episodes? Because it sure doesn't make any sense for the pacing.
