Not saying he DESERVED to die...
but his being dead isn't that much of a loss to the world.
What a tool he was.
It's a guaranteed disaster...like eating a burrito before sex.

I did not follow the trial and do not know him personally, but from what I know from movies is.... they are movies. You can't based everything on fact if he was a big jerk like he was portrayed in the movie. Even if he was sometimes jerks are needed in this world to help come up with things to progress Earth.

The thing is, this movie like most movies based on true crime stories, depicted him as completely innocent and faultless when in real life he probably was much less than that.

I know what you're saying. He didn't deserve to die...but,
What I don't get is after Betty Broderick, Lorena Bobbit and now Jodi Arias, why haven't many men learned to treat women better? I'm 44 and I see that it is only getting worse with younger men.
The double standard still exists. I know the movie was greatly fictionalized, but every time someone called Jodi a skank in the movie, I kept thinking to myself that if she was a skank, so was he. It took two.

purpledragonfly0505...You clearly are not educated on the case at all. Let's discuss the "merits" of Jodi, shall we?
1. She admits to kicking a dog as well as kicking her own mother in a rage.
2. Travis is not the first ex she stalked. She stalked previous ex-boyfriends as well as confronted the new girlfriends of said ex-boyfriends.
3. She was caught sneaking through the doggy door, hiding behind the Christmas tree and hiding in the bedroom closet at the Alexander home multiple times...always uninvited.
4. She hacked his email accounts, bank accounts, voice mail and read his cell phone messages. This was after they broke up. She also stole his journal.
5. Followed him on dates, walked into the house of one of the girls Travis was dating uninvited and slashed her tires as well as the tires of Travis's car. The girl was so scared, she had Travis stay overnight with her in a separate room and Jodi's response? She sends the poor girl an email calling her a shameful whore.
6. Travis breaks up with her and what does she do? She moves to Mesa to stalk him.
7. She stabbed him 27 times, shot him in the head and almost decapitated him.
Poor Jodi? Not a chance.
It isn't so much that I defend Jodi's actions, but at some point both men and women need to start treating each other better.
Stereotypically, men use women for sex and women use men for money or monetary benefits (nice meals, expensive dates, gifts, vacations). It's when they take it a step further and manipulate the partner or the partner's emotions that things get messy and dangerous.
If Travis had told Jodi he was just in it for wild sex and nothing more, she may have behaved differently. Instead, I think he led her on, so he could get what he wanted.
He doesn't deserve to be dead, but he messed with the wrong woman.
I would feel the same if the situation was reversed. I've known both men and women who are players and I feel they deserve what they receive when it bites them in the ass. Mind you, their exes have never gone to the extremes Jodi did.

Betty Broderick put Dan through law school and medical school. He was definitely emotionally abusive. She was a great wife and mother, but got old. He wanted someone younger. She was driven over the edge by him and his new wife. The three of them egged each other on.
He was horribly emotionally abusive and neglectful. He didn't deserve to die, nor did 2nd wife, but again, Linda would be safe and sound if she had walked away at te first sign of the craziness that was Betty and Dan Broderick. Also, the whole sending her aging remedy advertisements was out of line.

Clara - I've read quite a lot about her, it interests the psychologist in me and just how someone can deteriorate mentally.
Prior to the affair she was a good wife and mother. They had an idyllic life, but she had worked hard raising kids and holding a job while he went to school. Once he started practicing law, the money came in and they moved up the social and economic ladder.
After she found out about the affair, she asked what she needed to do to keep him. He gave her a pretty long and brutal list.. She dieted excessively, had plastic surgery and tried to be more adventurous in the bedroom. He still continued the affair. I think she gave everything she had to keep him and when he left her, she lost it. She was pretty vocal and out of control. But, from what I was able to determine, she didn't "throw the first punch" or become abusive until he left. More often than not, she was reacting to stuff he did. He sold their house while she was still living in it. I believe he got 90% or some ridiculously high percentage of the assets. Linda bragged to her friends about sending her old age cream ads in the mail.
Now....that said...she was awarded $16,000 a month in alimony (it was 1989, that's a fortune) and she did have a pretty serious boyfriend when she did the murders.

wow reading some of these posts makes me wonder if the people writing them know ANYTHING about the case. It seems like they watched the movie and think its accurate. They talk as though Jodi and Travis were never official, which they actually were. They just continued having sex after they broke up. The thing about his friends all disliking her because she kept him all to herself was made up also. His friends actually liked Jodi. In fact, the couple Chris and Sky Hughes defended Jodi when Travis was mistreating her, bringing up some of his past relationships where he treated other women badly. He used his ex-girlfriend for sex too and when she told him she was ready to get married, he told her he wasn't, so she finally left him. The dude admitted to his best friend in an email that he was a bit of a sociopath.
I believe Jodi is guilty and should be punished. No one deserves to be killed. With that said, I do believe there is more to the story. My theory is this... if Travis did indeed attack Jodi like she says (big IF) when she dropped his camera, I think it was because he'd been stewing since she packed up her car. Where was she going when she left his house? To see Ryan Burns. Travis knew this. What if he was angry that she had come by and had sex with him and was now about to go see another dude? I am surprised the defense didn't try to use this as a reason for him snapping when she dropped the camera. But Jodi has lied so often, its possible he didn't attack her at all. We will never know what really happened that day. Only God, Jodi, and a dead man know the truth.
But this attempt to paint Travis as this saint is just silly. He was a man and his weakness was sex. He didn't practice what he preached, he led a double life, and he lied to his friends and family. I don't believe his friends when they say that Travis was afraid of Jodi or that he ever cut her out of his life completely. I hate when people say things like," What man would turn down pussy when its offered?" Okay, if a dude is SCARED of a woman, there is no way he is going to be able to get hard and screw her. So for him to welcome her into his house, sleep beside her, wake up to have sex all day with her... that doesn't sound to me like he was afraid of her. I think Travis's friends are still under the assumption that anything he said was true. It was obvious he told his friends one thing and did the opposite.
The Hughes are disgusting. Chris and Sky Hughes have been on just about every interview concerning this case. Sky sits there with a big smile and laughs heartily even while discussing the brutal slaughter of her good friend. She loves the attention that she has received from this case. It's disgusting and it looks as though she is dancing on Travis's grave.
Chris, her husband, is just as bad. He is allegedly involved in a ponzi scheme and he is just as two faced as his wife. In every interview they give, they paint Jodi as this psychotic stalker who fooled them into liking her. But what they don't do is give us the reason they stopped liking her. Their story never changes. One minute they love her... then the only "reason" they can give for not liking her is that when they were telling Travis to dump her and she was dangerous, she overheard them.
As soon as I heard them say that, my thought was," WHY were they telling Travis this? What did she do to make them think she was dangerous?" But they have never given a reason. Chris maintains he told her she was not welcome in his home AFTER she overheard him and Sky talking smack behind her back. I believe what actually happened was she confronted them when she overheard them talking and called them both out as two-faced hypocrites. But they can't say that on tv... it would make Sky lose her big fake smile for the cameras.
Chris and Sky Hughes are also responsible for the hung jury. The 4 jurors who voted for life without parole instead of death did so because they believed she actually had been abused by Travis in some way. The reason they believed this was not because Jodi convinced them... it was SKY who convinced them... by emailing Travis and accusing him of being an abuser. And telling him she would never trust him with her own sister. The 4 jurors could not forget that. His two closest friends were telling him that he abused Jodi!
BTW, if you want a good laugh, watch the video on YouTube of when the jury reveals they could not reach a verdict. The camera pans to the family of Travis and you see Sky Hughes, for the first time without a big fake smile, and the look on her face is EPIC. She is trying so hard to look horrified and shocked. But there are no tears, just this Joker like look to her, and as soon as she sees the camera is on her, she never takes her eyes off it. I showed my friends and they were laughing hysterically. The woman is revolting!

I agree, when Jodi was describing Travis lunging at her like a linebacker, she rubbed her nose, that is typical of someone telling a lie. He did no such thing, i bet there was nothing said about the camera but she had to think of something about why she would have to defend herself.
shareI'm not arguing over whether or not Travis actually abused her. What I am stressing is that his own friends accused him of mentally and emotionally abusing Jodi and other women. THEY are the reason the four jurors believe Jodi was being abused at some point by Travis. But no one focuses on them, despite how fake they are.

Very informative post. I don't know a lot about the case...however Travis the Mormon bible thumper calling her a 3 hole wonder gives me plenty of insight.
They were both adults: He was capable of keeping his penis in his pants and she should have left him alone.
As the song Night Moves goes: "I used her, she used me, but neither one cared we were gettin' out share....." That sums up Jodi and Travis.

Who is this friend of Travis that he supposedly admitted being a sociopath? I have followed this case from the beginning and I have never heard that. Travis called Jodi a sociopath, it was one of the texts admitted in court. He also accused her of using him for sex, saying that for her, he was nothing but a dildo with a heartbeat. She also knew, and admitted herself, that she knew that the relationship was never going to progress any further than the two of them meeting up for sex. They agreed on that arrangement. They weren't an official couple for very long, just from February to June of 2006.
shareI meant 2007, not 2006.
shareBoth Travis and Jodi were at fault.
Travis should have stuck to his beliefs. I mean what was he going to do if he had married a more chaste woman who wouldn't do the stuff he wanted to do in bed or if the sex was bad. I think eventually if he had been able to marry a virgin eventually he would have cheated on her. In his mind what was good for the goose was not good for the gander.
Also all this BS about he couldn't resist Jodi and all her sexy behavior is ridiculous. If he had truly been a righteous man of faith he would never have slept with her to begin with. Death is an extreme punishment but he should have stuck by his faith. If he had none of this would have happened.
Travis WAS a tool.
I heard someone say, "Carlos Estevez looks JUST like Charlie Sheen!" Good grief...

Oh come the hell on. The guy may have been a d***, but he didn't deserved to die just because this crazy psycho b**** was pissed off that he didn't want to be with her anymore. There's no excuse for what she did---none. If someone makes it very clear to you that they do not want to be with you anymore, you leave them the hell alone and move on. You don't drive all the way from another state and try to kill them---that's some crazy s*** right there.
He was a hypocrite and his true God was sex. Unfortunately for him he chose the wrong woman to play around with - a psychopath. I agree he came across a complete douchebag if this movie is faithful at all to his personality, but that aside, he didn't deserve to die for his weaknesses.

Duty Now For The Future
I don't think anyone deserves to die, but he definitely led Jodi on and treated her badly. I think he was really into her, but he was more concerned what his friends thought. And those so-called "Mormons" who are supposed to be so religious are saying crap about Jodi and calling her a skank behind her back? Wow. Jodi definitely deserved someone better than Travis, someone who genuinely wanted to be with her. And the funny thing is, he was with Katie, but then slept with Jodi. What a jerk!
the saddest thing in life is wasted talent
seeing as it turned out that lil jodi is a self centered psychopath and murderer, she didn't deserve anyone .. she was a big girl .. she could've easily just walked away and found someone else like normal people do
