gus isn't cured, he's still forgetting everything "recent" in his day to day life. Apparently molly still loves him and decides to accept having to "re-enter" his life every day. oh, well. It's a pretty dismal way to live life.

I don't know I kind of liked it. There is no real cure for this kind of thing and it would have been unrealistic if he just suddenly got all better. I liked that she was willing to deal with that if she wanted to be with him and I like to think he remembered her a little bit there at the end.
The Eraser room does two things: Cleans erasers and takes our innocence.
But I also thought it was pretty dumb that Molly didn't really think out all of the issues of being with Gus and jumped ship when she realized he most likely won't get better.
Overall though, ending was definitely better than I anticipated.
I thought the ending when he gave her the ring back gave her some hope that even though he doesn't remember things he has developed a system so that there is some linkage to what happened in previous days. Not as totally depressing has having to re-meet the person every day.
She didn't leave because she realised he wouldn't get better, she left because she promised him she would if the treatment didn't work. Then she found out he'd already had it and that it hadn't worked, so she tried to keep the promise.

I couldn't help but think of Sarah Walker at the end. Most Chuck fans wanted Sarah to remember, and they left us hanging. We already had the "all accept this life" ending and that it worked in 50 First Dates. I was actually hoping something in Gus would snap and he'd remember something. It would have been unrealistic but this is a Hallmark movie Why the heck not?
I kinda thought that about 3/4 of the way through, when he was in the hospital, that he was kinda either remembering or forming subconscious, long-term memory. When he asked her to lean forward and then smelled her hair.
My only real gripe with the ending is how rushed it seemed.
Question: Was the last few minutes of plot, with the resolution(s), when they are separate, evidently split up---Was that supposed to be sometime later....A month....? A year....? If so, would it have been so difficult to put some indication at the bottom of the screen to say how long had passed....? Or, was there something, and I missed it? -Thanks.
I did like the ending for being relatively realistic, it was left open-ended, but hopeful. I just wish there would have been another scene, or something for it to be more concrete, complete.
I really did enjoy Remember Sunday, as a whole though, and I plan to watch it again someday. Alexis and Zachary are two extremely talented actors, and had amazing chemistry together. They each portrayed their respective characters perfectly. Zachary nailed Gus; his emotions, turmoil, angst, frustration.... I can't wait to see him in more roles....
A side note: It was so fantastic to see Alexis in another role. [Diehard Gilmore Girls fan here.] I could not help but compare and notice just how different the characters of Rory and Molly really were. But, she is so perfect and natural in both roles. In fact, I think Molly is now my favourite character, after Rory Gilmore(it'll be hard to beat Rory,IMO-lol) that Alexis plays. I found she really put herself into, put everything she had into the role of Molly. < That made it all the more easier to dive into the story, and stay there all the way through, even well after the movie. It was a fun ride.
Movie reminded me of that line Chuck says to Ellie in season 1 or 2 where she asks what his secret is with Sarah and he said it's like he has to keep winning Sarah over every day.
she should make a video of them like adam sandler did in 50 first dates - that way he can remember her again each day; it worked for 50 first dates, i guess they couldn't do that bc it was done in the adam sandler movie, but i bet you that adam sandler (who owns the rights bc its his production co.), would've agreed to let them do it OR they coulda did something diff so gus could never forget her - its a sad ending and i think both of the actors did a wonderful job. i really love both actors, esp zachary levi (just adore this man so much)he is so talented - he can sing/act (and is very versatile w/his acting comedies and drama).... wish it coulda ended much better though, molly NEVER gave up on him bc she loved him, and he loved her but bc of the short term memory loss he had to start all over again to fall in love w/her.
I just caught the last hour of the movie and I was also a bit puzzled by the ending..I thought it should have ended similar to 50 First Dates as well...and also, I feel like every single Hallmark movie I watch is rushed at the end. I feel like the person who writes these does a great job, then runs out of time at the end and has to come up with a way to tie everything together in a five minute span...it's crazy!! Almost every single Hallmark movie I watch feels that way! Sheesh:)
This is exactly how I feel, and was actually just complaining to my husband about that! EVERY Hallmark movie drags out the story for an hour and 15 minutes, then rushes the ending. The last 5-10 minutes I am usually left feeling disappointed because the ending fell flat. I keep checking the time left and thinking my DVR must have cut off the end of the movie because no way is this story going to get resolved in the 4 minutes remaining, and every single time I get a rushed ending that disappoints me somehow. I mean I was perfectly happy with the actual ending, and Gus not getting a miracle cure, but come on Hallmark, give me more than 4 minutes for a resolution.
OH good..it's not just me:)! Oh and another thing..have you noticed how similar all the storylines are in all their stories?? I could write them for crying out loud! Although, that still doesn't stop me from watching them lol:)!
It's like once she received that check for the house the rest of the film was rushed. Something just seemed off, and there seems a lot more film that was cut or else they didn't know what to do with the ending so they took short cuts.
