The Trailer. The Verdict.
Oh dear.
Then again, sometimes a bad trailer doesn't signal a bad movie. Let's hope.

I don't think it looks bad, but it doesn't seem as fun as the first one, a little sappy and more serious.

I'm 20 years older and there are times when I have more fun than I ever did 20 years ago, though it's not very often.

What exactly did you find wrong with the trailer? I thought the trailer was fine. It's got some of the old Trainspotting vibe with the visual polish of Trance.
The enthusiasm from the cast about the script, the speed in which the film was signed up by TriStar plus the awards season release date has me quietly enthusiastic about this.
"And what am I supposed to do while you're on a yellow brick quest for a brain?"
I think I saw the US trailer so correct me if I'm wrong.
Awards season release date? I was under the impression that a film had to be released before January 1st to qualify for most awards and this has a January 27th date.
I think it looks good - the updated choose life, the green colour tinting of Sickboy's pub harking back to the first film, that low, wide angled cobblestone view shot at the bottom of Victoria Street, Spud taking a hit then falling back off the rooftop, all fantastic.
However, having said that - a trailer looking great is an entirely different thing from the film itself being any good! Fingers crossed though, looks positive...

I was expecting it to be bad, but the trailer looked good and I thought I will go and see it.
shareLooks entertaining, but it also seems like a complete rehash which is surprising. Too many nods to the original which isn't a good sign imo.
But it does look entertaining, and I'm looking forward to it.
Bad?
It's f--ing awesome. I got a rush from it.
yup, viewing the trailer the second time and I really liked it. Transporting is a classic to many so a sequel would always have an uphill struggle.
I'm sure if the script wasn't there they wouldn't have agreed to make the film.
Transporting? ROFL

ROFL
Because the entertainment industry never pumps out a product just for an easy payday. It's all about artistic integrity!!

Probably on a phone with autocorrect. NBD.
shareI thought it was really good. looks like they may have pulled it off. the cinematography is beautiful.
shareAgreed, think this looks awesome - felt quite emotional watching it. If you were in your late teens, early twenties, at the time of the original then hopefully this will feel like reuniting with old friends 20 years on and comparing notes on state of the world now - worse generally haha e.g. I already agree with Renton's opening monologue on joys of social media. People say it looks like it borrows from the original but the main fun of meeting old friends again is the reminiscing about the old times. Fingers crossed especially for another evocative soundtrack.
shareIt looks exactly as expected: unnecessary and irrelevant.
shareI'm sorry but this is ludicrous. How is this unnecessary? Why do people assume it's going to be bad? I mean, the sequel has the same director and the same actors. The novel had a sequel too and it did great. This checks all the requirements of a good sequel.

Agreed. Not only does Trainspotting have a sequel it also has a prequel, which is apparently going to be done as a tv series, which would be great.
