This is a significant improvement over the original 2022 film. It's more entertaining, more satisfying, and more believable. James McAvoy is wonderfully menacing here and Mackenzie Davis is quite good too. Alix West Lefler and Dan Hough provide strong supporting performances. For me, this is director James Watkins's best film. 8/10 is my rating.
It was okay, but the original is much better. This was too safe and completely misses the shock value of the original. The original actually made me feel uneasy.
I do agree that James McAvoy was excellent and the acting by everyone was good. It's not a bad movie but a little bland. 6,5/10
McAvoy was an excellent villain; he can be mistaken for Russell Crowe.
Since you preferred the original, another thriller/ horror movie that you may like is Burnt Offerings. No safe movie about a family spending its time in an isolated place.
