If you could write an idea for one of the 8mm home videos in Sinister...

😨 what's the creepiest one you could think of? If I was allowed to come up with an idea for one of the home videos of the murders in Sinister, I'd do "Spring Cleaning", and have a child possessed by Buguul mix household chemicals together (ammonia and bleach), and leave their family in the house with all the doors and windows locked or something, that'd be really freaky. Or "4th of July" - a family has a 4th of July party, and the same night they're killed by fireworks. Can anyone else come up with any better ideas?

UPDATE: SOME MORE IDEAS OF MINE:

-Canada Day (or 4th of July depending on where you live): A child loops the belt loops of their family members' pants to the hooks of a flagpole, hoists them up to the top, and then lets go so that they rapidly fall several feet down.

-New Family Pet: A family buys a large dog as the new family pet. Later on a child locks their family in a root cellar in their house and, out of starvation, the dog eventually eats them.

-Darkroom: A family is developing vacation photographs in a homemade darkroom. Later on a child drowns them in fixer, bleach and stop baths.

-School talent show: parents audition their children for the local school talent show. That night, the children tie up their parents on-stage and leave the stage lighting on until it catches fire, burning down the whole building.

-Whale watching: a family rents a boat for a day to go whale watching on (no idea if it's popular in the States but it's a very popular summer activity here in the Atlantic provinces). That night, a child ties each family member to a buoy in the stormy weather, and the choppy waves kill them slowly. The child films them from the safety of the boat.

-Bring Your Kids to Work Day: a guy who works at a chemical plant brings his kids along with him for job shadowing - at night - and the next morning his dead body is found corroded partially, floating in a chemical vat. Both his kids are missing.

I thought of "Road Trip", well, it starts when a video shows a RV driven along the highway, in the RV there is the big brother and the mother playing chess, while two big sisters are watching TV while the father is driving. The film switches to a scene when the father and the mother was lying down in front of the RV about 1 mile ahead. A big sister was tied under the RV while the another big sister and big brother was tied behind the RV. The RV starts to drive itself and thus pulling along the big brother and the big sister. Driving along the highway the mother and the father are crashed by the RV in an instant and the big brother and the big sister behind the RV are screaming of pain due to sliding along the highway. The friction starts to injure them severely. A moment later, the body of the big sister falls off the RV. Her face was scraped off including her entrails are visible. The RV is still driving along the RV more faster and the big brother behind the RV lost one of his legs. The scene cuts off.

Safari: A family bound in a jeep at a safari with all the doors left open are eaten alive by a pride of lions.

Piano Recital: Family members are placed into individual pianos plugged into an engine and once the engine is turned on they are sliced up with piano wire.

Summer Picnic: A family is gagged, bound to trees, covered in honey, and then stung to death by bees, hornets, and fire ants.

Barbecue: A family is cooked alive in barbecue pits, smokers, and ovens.

House Renovations: A family is bound to a wall with a pulley trap that holds sledgehammers above each member and when the rope is pulled, the sledgehammers swing down one at a time to crush skulls and smash the wall behind.

Garbage Day: A family is bound and crushed to death in a trash compactor.

Lumber Mill: A family is bound to lumber in a mill and bisected with saw blades.

Beach Vacation: A family is bound and buried with just their heads exposed at the beach and then drown to death when the tide comes in.

Ski Trip: A family is bound and hurled into an ice crevasse.

Farmers' Market: A family bound in barbed wire which is tethered to a threshing machine are completely eviscerated.

knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

Halloween - A video of a family carving pumpkins and putting up decorations like skeletons and fake body parts and putting out the bowl of candy, it then cuts and the family are now in place of the decorations. One of them has been decapitated and their face has been carved like the pumpkin, one of them is hanging where the plastic skeleton was and maybe they've been flayed or something gross like that, one of them has been chopped up and their body parts have now replaced the fake ones, the bowl of candy now has things like fingers and toes and eyeballs in it.

Well this thread is pretty messed up lol. I'd be surprised if the events in the movie were more horrific than the ones written here.

Well, I've done it before because I was writing a fiction novel with a mystery involving super 8 snuff films, but when I first heard of the Sinister franchise I just had to ask people what they'd add to it since there are so many possibilities - some of the replies are really creative, I agree, the ideas people have on this thread are so elaborate and creepy. 😅

Oh, that'd be very scary - a family tied up, dangling in the lane where the pins should be, only to be repeatedly whacked to death by kids throwing bowling balls. 😓

You could try to sell the idea to the director of Sinister... they should collect all these ideas and film them all on super 8, then release them on DVD in a chain of films😁

"New car": Filmed in the family's garage, the tape starts with a mother, father and their two sons all playing in their dad's new car. The camera seems to be placed up high on a shelf out of view from the other members of the family. The screen cuts and all but one of the two sons are tied up under the car-- mother and son together under the back left wheel and father under back right wheel. The camera pans out to revel a jack holding the car up other the parents and son's heads. Other child walks over and the car is dropped onto the family's heads.
