How the hell could they possibly explain that?
1) He's got a criminal record.
2) He's a known associate of a criminal on the 10 most wanted list.
3) He's already a grandfather so he's beyond the age limit for admission to the FBI Academy.
The show threw around a bunch of vague phrases like "pulled strings" and "waved magic wand". Heh heh. It's really a bunch of nonsense how they reset the board, definitely just tv show stuff. But the show needed a shakeup like this and should have done it a few years ago. I like what they're doing. But basically they just swapped out Liz for Dembe so Red could still have a direct connection inside man on the team. It's definitely a just go with it situation. Was the secret task force still around when Dembe was made an agent, then disbanded? That would sort of grandfather him in. IDK. Maybe Aram just hacked him into the program.
shareI think the real problem with Dembe being an FBI agent is they're kind of skirting around the issue, when I think they should have doubled down on what an absurd concept it really was. Hell, the notion of working with Reddington at all is an absurd concept. They should have embraced the lunacy of his number 1 assassin joining the team. I mean it would put the FBI in a bad light and our tax payer dollars are soft funding shows like this. It's all propaganda. But gimme a break. We know how corrupt these bastards really are. The FBI isn't a holy order of paladins for christ's sake. They're all Vic Mackey.
