'The Goldbergs' To End With Season 10 On ABC

The Goldbergs' journey through the 1980s is over. The family comedy's current tenth season will be its last, with the May 3 season finale serving as a series finale.

"We are so proud of the 10 years we were able to spend with The Goldbergs," said Craig Erwich, president, ABC Entertainment, Hulu and Disney Branded Television Streaming Originals: "This is an incredible team and we're so thankful for the joy and entertainment they brought to so many over this time. We look forward to celebrating their final chapter along with the fans in the weeks ahead."

Best news I've read all day. They should've canned this show after George Segal passed away.

The Goldbergs Wasted A Classic Series Finale Opportunity

The Goldbergs series finale could have reused a classic sitcom ending trope by introducing the show's real-life narrator but the show failed to do so.

It was time.

The last season felt a bit thrown together. Murray not being there felt weird, even though I understand the reasons for the actor leaving. And they'd thrown in a lot of side characters who were promoted to regulars, who didn't really feel like they belonged. It was just odd that Mr. Glascott was at their house all the time, for example.

Also, it felt a lot of the characters had gotten to the point where there wasn't anything interesting for them to do any more. Having Adam decide to not go to college, just for the sake of having him still at home, felt lame. They pulled the same stunt with Erica several seasons earlier. And now with Erica as a mother, most of the stuff she did was baby-centric, and there wasn't anything else for her and Geoff to do.

I enoyed The Goldbergs, but this was the right time to end it.
