Is there 1 good videogame movie???
I liked the first Mortal Kombat and that's all and that was when I was a teenager. I can't think of a good one, except Wreck it Ralph!

shareSilent Hill
shareSeconded. It was really well made. Great atmosphere and all. Not exactly scary, especially compared to the games. But still pretty good IMO.

Glad to see there are some Mortal Kombat fans on here. MK is one of my personal favorite movies of all time, definitely in the top 5 I would say. I would consider it the best video game-to-film adaptation. I will admit, part of it is nostalgia in that I seen the movie in the theaters in 1995 when I was 5 years old.
The other part - for one is actually IS a great movie that inspired me to get into martial arts that I still practice to this day. I just watched in on Netflix a month or two ago again and the film has really stood the test of time. The cast was excellent, the plot was simple, with the exception of CGI Reptile the special FX were really good (especially with Goro, he still looks creepy today). The fight choreography was also excellent. Yes, it didn't have the blood and gore of the games but there was nothing soft about the fighting.
The movie also succeeded because they stuck to the premise of the video games closely, and they didn't try hard to make the film something it wasn't. All in all I loved the movie and to this day I don't think anything besides maybe Street Fighter has come close. Unfortunately the sequel bombed very hard and had a terrible script pretty much putting the franchise in production hell for almost two decades.
I've watched several other movies out there. Personally, I don't get the hate for the "Super Mario Bros." movie because I actually enjoyed it as a child. I wouldn't say it's a "great" film but it was enjoyable. Resident Evil, good movies, not great, and they don't really follow the video games whatsoever. The original hitman, it was OK, but not a classic. I was looking forward to this one but I don't know about it now, I am reading a lot of mixed reviews. I don't know, decent video game to movie adaptions are hard to come by. Assassin's Creed looks very promising so far, we'll see how that one turns out....
Super Mario Bros.
I kid. I am hoping Shadow of the Colossus changes that.
Prince of Persia was alright
shareYeah. Prince of Persia comes quickly to mind.
Although that wasn't anything amazing either.
"Alright" is the perfdct word to describe it.
Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down and a Wagging Finger of Shame
I loved Prince of Persia! Still bummed that that one never got a sequel..
"We're a team, Garrus. There's no Shepard without Vakarian."
Silent Hill
shareEver heard of Uwe Boll?
shareHe's the worst director ever right? I can't recall seeing a movie from him
share'The King of video game adaptations' - Who's not heard of him? Love that guy.
sharePrince of Persia and Silent Hill are definitely the best video game based movies. Silent Hill was so atmospheric. Prince of Persia nailed a lot of the action and parkour of the game. Gyllenhaal was fine in the role too.
shareI'm not really interested in Jake's looks but I'm glad you got your some enjoyment from it ??. Looks like Silent Hill and P.O.P get the top votes so I'll have to check those out. I definitely liked the trailer music for the Sands of Time! ?
shareNailed the action???
If they put the sand demons in the movie THEN they would have nailed it
Just because there aren't any sand demons in an adaptation, doesn't mean the action set pieces weren't spot on?? A movie has to work on its own it doesn't have to borrow every element.
shareWell it was up there with the worse game to movie, up there with alone in the dark, doom, bloodryane ect
shareI thought Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider were okay.
Also, I don't think Wreck-It Ralph should count. If it does, I think you'd also have to start adding films like Scott Pilgrim vs the World and the documentary King of Kong.
I thought final fantasy was decent, it definately look nice but it strayed so far from the actual game that it almost didn't count. I liked Advent Children signifantly more. Wreck it Ralph is a cheat I'll admit but I was grabbing at straws.
