Richmond, CA. 9:55 am. Sold out.
Trailers included Hidden Figures. Can't remember the others.

Saw the 420 showing. Packed house, mixed audience. Showed trailers for Bye Bye Man, Dunkirk, Silence, Hidden Figures.
The audience loved it. Ppl laughed, booed (Denzel's character), cried, and applauded at the end. Great movie. Denzel and Viola were superb, along with the supporting roles.

We saw it at 1 PM on Tuesday. About 10 people in the theater. Trailers included some trailers we hadn't seen before: The Shack, Get Out, Underground, a new Transformers. Most of these looked pretty bad. A couple of good movies previewed: Silence, Hidden Figures.

I saw it this morning at 9:30. About 25 people in the audience.

Trailers:
Sleepless
Get Out
Life
Hidden Figures
Dunkirk
XXX: The Return of Xander Cage
Silence

Audience laughed at a few of the funnier lines, and there were quite a few gasps at the heated exchange between Troy and Rose. No reaction when it ended.

I expected it to be great because I'm a fan of Denzel Washington, the acting looked excellent from the trailers, and it has gotten a good amount of awards buzz, but honestly I was a little disappointed. It's not a bad film and there are some good things about it, but it is far too long and feels very tedious. The more I think about it, I realize that there was surprisingly little plot for a 139-minute film. Denzel did a good job in the lead role as Troy, but his performance didn't really stand out as especially unique. Viola Davis, however, was excellent, and the actor who played Cory did pretty well. I would only recommend seeing it in theaters to really big fans of Denzel. 6/10

Saw it Monday Jan 2nd at 10:25am and didn't get out until 1pm. I don't remember all of the previews, but I do remember "Get Out", "XXX", and some Asian movie with Andre Garfield.

Mainly blacks, packed theatre except for a few open seats here and there. Some clapped at the end

Noon showing, large auditorium with three dozen or so people, mixed crowd of mostly seniors (Wed is discount day ). Could tell there was rapt attention. Gasps at certain plot points and a few sniffles.

A Dog's Purpose
The Zookeeper's Wife
Silence
The Bye Bye Man

Rusty,
I saw a 7:15 Tue show. There were 11 people in the audience, kind of disappointing.

Trailers included:
Jamie Fox Movie
Triple X
Silence
Beauty and the Beast
Dunkirk

But I have two questions:
1. Why are people on this thread reporting on the racial makeup of the crowd? Who cares?
I didn't go to see this film because it has a black cast, just as I didn't go to Lion because of its mainly Indian cast, or Manchester by the Sea for its white cast.

I went because it was reportedly a really good film, and it was! As a matter of fact,
I think it deserves Oscars for Best Picture, Actor and Actress. I know many people in this country are obsessed by race. But when we go to the movies shouldn't we just leave that all behind, and just enjoy the film regardless of the skin color of the cast?

2. Why do people want to know which trailers were playing? What is the fascination with that minor detail?
