Hey guys, I was considering seeing this film tonight, but seeing some of the scathing reviews it has gotten has made me second guess my decision. So I just wanted to ask anyone on here who's seen it for their honest opinions. Keep in mind that I am solely going to this film for cheap, ridiculous laughs and am aware that most films of this nature typically are terrible films overall despite being undeniably laughable and funny. Essentially, what I'm asking is whether it's "so bad it's good" (Freddy Got Fingered being a good example) or whether it's just "bad" in general (A Million Ways to Die in the West is a good example). Thank you.
I'm going to see it tonight, although I did have a friend who saw it last night.
They told me that as a huge fan of the first film it was alright. They said it was very sloppy and terribly edified. They said a lot of the jokes didn't work, but the ones that did actually were really funny and made them laugh really hard. He pretty much told me that if you were a fan of the first one it's worth checking out, but go in with low expectations.
I enjoyed it. It wasn't nearly as bad as the reviews said. I still feel the first one was better, as it played on 80's nostalgia where as this one doesn't. It probably got a little thin in some parts, but the ending really ramped it up nicely.
I agree the later middle/ end of the movie was far better than the beginning....its def not as good as the 1st one .. going back in the past compared to the future is just funnier in general....so its worth checking out but don't expect it to be better than the first
I thought it was okay. I thought that the first movie was hilarious, but some elements seem a little forced. I thought that the credits sequence was the best part.
It was actually pretty good, as far as sequels go. There were a lot of references to the first film, so I was happy I re-watched that before seeing part 2.
Overall, it was juvenile and fun. A good diversion on a Sunday afternoon.
I wrote a review and gave it 7 out of 10. It won't be up for 2-3 days, so here is a shortened version:
It's a continuation of the original story. Imagine there were no credits at the end of the first movie, and this followed. It helps when seeing sequels that follow an original so closely.
Cusack's absence was likely due to budget cuts, not because the movie was horrible.
Most people's complaints on here are based on truth (i.e. crass humor), but I think they're complaining because they missed the point (the characters being that way was the point of the plot).
It's not as good as the first one because the tone is a bit different with Cusack's absence, but I'm glad I saw it.
I laughed a lot, was surprised at how polished Christian Slater was as the game show host. I thought they might have gone in more of a The Running Man direction with it.
The game show wasn't like the Rehabilitation from Idiocracy, was very different, somewhat uncomfortable. I laughed a lot and went to Wendys hamburgers afterwards thinking about eats a bunch of waffles.
The characters referenced Terminator a bunch of times. It seemed underneath the action were parts of Back to the Future.
My brother in law likes Rob Cordroy. Craig Robinson is very strong and funny in this. Eventually the couples get it right and seem to fix what's important. 😊 👍
I forgot to mention Christian Slater! Though I made a similar reference about Jacob not actually going full "Lex Luthor" despite having a shaved head and being the heir to a business empire.
