I know I need to let it go, but regarding Cami...

...that's such BS that they didn't her story was over. They kept Matt on TVD this whole time and what in the heck has been his story? None! So I'm still pissed they killed off Cami. That's all. Rant done.

I agree that they could have utilized cami's character in some way but the writers never really dove into her character since the beginning of the first season. You could tell from the first episode that she was going to end up being klaus' love interest and instead of developing the character on its own they used her as a prop to further klaus' character. They introduced the human faction and when cami's uncle died you would think they would have delved into that story more with cami but they pretty much swept that under the rug and that would've been a great arc for her and her development. You could tell that they couldn't figure out what to do with her character and a lot of the fans were getting frustrated because we could see how desperate they were to keep her and to make her relevant and to be with klaus but it just wasn't organic and didn't feel natural, at least to me. They were so focused on her being the love interest and to further klaus' story that they just destroyed what could have been a great character. And to be completely honest I never could really believe the chemistry between Leah and Joseph. And this is not to bash any of the actors because they are both great, but you could just see how the showrunners were forcing them together. Did they have great scenes and lines? Yes, there's no doubt but the romantic and sexual chemistry just wasn't there. I loved the chemistry between cami and marcel and even more I loved the chemistry between cami and Vincent.( Was I the only one who noticed how natural their chemistry was?) It's like her story could have been great and could have gone in so many directions but the showrunners and writers were so focused on putting her with klaus that they disregarded everything else even if it wasn't working. And then they decided to make her into a vampire and her role in that was learning to fight at a gym? I know that wasn't all she did but it wasn't anything too spectacular. When they turned her I was thinking that they might get her character on track and really show the greatness in a woman's character that isn't defined by a male, but nope she was mostly just there whenever the writers were trying to show another side of klaus. I just don't think they really know how to write an independent female character. And the audience could not only see how weak the character was but could see how much potential she could have had. There were a lot of people who wanted her character to stay on the show simply because of the ship and when other people were voicing their opinions and dislikes about the character they were interpreting that the people were only saying that to bash their ship. I don't care about ships, I care about the character and the writers could not make her a great independent character without threatening the progression of klaus. You can see how they disregard female characters not only in TO but also TVD, especially with Caroline's character this past season. She was a great character who went through so much improvement and growth and was independent, but they brought her back down to season 1 Caroline who always second guessed herself to further the love story between her and Stefan. Can the women of these shows just be single and amazing on their own? It seems impossible with these writers and they always have to use the women to further the men.

Basically all this.

Yes. There were few scenes last year when I found romantic chemistry between them believable but not this year. They tried too hard with Klaus and Cami especially this season. Cami was so natural with other male characters even with Elijah but with Klaus there was awkwardness which I guess was the purpose too since they were trying to make it angst but yes they lacked chemistry this season. And the character's interaction with each other, all boils down to the actors. They both are decent actors but something was lacking in their scenes. That scene with them making out on christmas episode was good choreographed but it lacked chemistry and both the actors looked so uncomfortable in that scene.

There were a lot of people who wanted her character to stay on the show simply because of the ship and when other people were voicing their opinions and dislikes about the character they were interpreting that the people were only saying that to bash their ship.

^This and that they wanted Klaus to be happy. Is Klaus's happiness just based on a romantic love interest?

and I so agree with bold part. I hate that no one can give logic on this board without being targeted as a shipper. It is like we are all 12 year old and cannot think outside that ship box.

Reading your post and how and what they did to Cami's character, it is clear that they didnt know what to do with Cami except for using her as a prop to further Klaus's character.

Cami and Klaus story was the heart and the soul of the show. Their story to me is the saddest. I wish they didn't kill her but they did, and I just stopped watching the show becasue it didn't live up to my expectations.

reply

Loved Cami and Cami/Klaus. They made a mistake killing Cami off, and she definitely didn't "run her course".

reply

When they made her vampire in midseason I think they were testing the audience, if we could take the loss.

Well, audience clearly failed, because they had the actual guts to kill her off! I agree it will set him on a path of redemption, but why the hell they couldnt keep her around for it?

I loved her character and what she did for everyone. Dammit.

But if they ever get Klaus and Hayley back together, I am done....

reply

Klaus and Hayley were never together, it was just a one night stand which resulted to her getting pregnant.

reply

Yes, but some might think they should be, in order to raise Hope etc.

Just saying it would make me stop watching, that is all. You know JP is able to do that, because Hayley is not liked, so ripping her apart from Elijah and "pairing" with Klaus could fit in "lets play and pi$$ fans some more" scheme.

reply

Yeah,I always knew it's possible.

It was a mistake killing Cami off.

reply

I hope they don't go the Klaus / Hayley route. I know they have a child together, but, if they change her affections from Elijah to Klaus now it would be too much like Stefan / Elena / Damon

I'm sorry they killed both Cami and Davina. I'll miss them both

I agree with 98% of the replies to the thread. I'll never stop being angry how they did Cami, especially when this season she finally got to shine more!
