2. Which actors do you like in each series and why?
3. Who are the sexiest 3 actresses and the three hottest male actors in each show?
4. How many viewers realise that almost all the major cast for the Originals are from Australia, Canada or the British Isles?
5. If they made another spin-off which 7 actors from the 2 series would you keep and which seven actors from other shows would you add? i.e. folk like Ryan Kwantan, Jay Ryan, Norman Reedus, Cleopatra Coleman, Eva Green, Lady Gaga & Emilia Clarke...
6. Who agrees with me that Damon and Klaus have the best lines in the two series.
Personally, I think "The Originals" is one of the best sequels/prequels to any TV series ever made.
On a totally other matter, I would also love to see a crossover between The Walking Dead and Z Nation.
I havent watched any of the series. But i want to watch The Originals. Is it possible to understand it completely without watching The Vampire dairies? Cause i dont want to watch TVD.
I've never watched the Vampire Diaries and I understand things fairly well. If there's a question that I have I just come here for some background info, but you don't need to watch VD in order to understand the Originals.
I also haven't watched VD and have had no problem understanding the originals. They do a great job of explaining who people are from the VD when they appear on the show (Tyler, Stefan) so there isn't any confusion.
Maybe watch the one season where they were introduced in tvd, it's not that bad. It was actually one of the better seasons. Couldn;t tell you which one it was though, maybe 2 or 3?
The Originals. I love stories that center around family, blood or makeshift and The Vampire Diaries, much as I love it, is a romance series first which is why I feel the overwhelming urge to flick anyone in the nose who wants the story in this show to suffer for some inane romantic subplot.
2. Which actors do you like in each series and why?
Daniel Gillies, Nina Dobrev. I think it's rather tragic Nina didn't get to play book!Elena because she would have pulled the character off without making her unlikeable. I like a lot of the actors because they can handle their role but Daniel and Nina are capable of more.
I'd like to see Nina not do what one A list actress has done which is have a great career but has left people forgetting she can actually act.
4. How many viewers realise that almost all the major cast for the Originals are from Australia, Canada or the British Isles?
I do. It's probably why I don't notice Phoebe's accent slips so I watch her in terms of her playing that character. It's incredibly fun watching the Australians because they get to act- I swear, Australian television has such a contradiction. The shows designed for teenagers are inventive and the reason shows get cut after a few seasons so often here is because our subsidy ends and they're pointless.
It's why it's narrow minded not to pay attention to international syndication. Quite often shows that are syndicated in the US go on breaks (it's looking like Netflix will change that model- it's actually the biggest threat to syndication, who will watch anything on live TV when you can stream it or buy the episodes.
Some shows will get perpetually shown here that the US hasn't run in years, but to my original point- Australian television networks can't seem to get it in their heads to make appealing television that they can sell overseas, and drop the ball when they do have a property that does. So I love seeing Australians getting roles in shows I can stand watching. Claire Holt, Nathaniel Buzolic and Phoebe Tonkin would have been utterly wasted in mainstream Australian television.
I don't see any reason for a spin-off. The Originals was the other compelling story.
6. Who agrees with me that Damon and Klaus have the best lines in the two series.
Occasionally- although quite often they're outdone by other characters. Fortunately, Klaus gets good material and is allowed to grow whereas Damon suffers what I like to call the Charlie Sheen-Jon Cryer syndrome where to make Stefan look good, they stifle Damon's development and past plotlines. Probably network motivated as networks are very leery of concept changes.
Elijah is not the same and anyone who has seen him on The Vampire Diaries knows for all his regrets- he is capable of committing Red Door acts. No one should be shocked by what happened to Davina and his part- he was prepared to sacrifice a teenage girl who warned him his mother was going to kill him and his siblings.
People don't understand why Elijah let Elena off- she did what she had to in defence of the principle he holds himself to after Kol tried to kill Rebekah, a.k.a my reasons for wanting to slap Kol for whining about feeling left out and complaining his sister wasn't grieving him. Klaus saved Rebekah's life. You don't get the perks of always and forever if you don't stand by those principles.
I like Kol now he's developed past his selfishness.
Personally, I think "The Originals" is one of the best sequels/prequels to any TV series ever made.
It was a necessary story split. The best spinoffs are, there a very few properties that lend themselves to sister series like Star Trek, and there are too many great shows that focus on the wrong idea to spinoff on. Legends of Tomorrow is this- DC has some amazing properties they could use.
The first rule of truly living, do the thing you're most afraid of -Rebekah Mikaelson
1. I like TO better because I like the individual characters better. By season 3 I fell out of love with the tvd characters.
2. Joseph-he's so dramatic Daniel-he's so over the top Riley is the perfect protective loyal older sister Claire-when she is not chasing some guy Nate-when he is acting like the little brother
3. Claire, Riley, Nina....Joseph, Daniel, Nate
4. Yeah, they should film in Canada I hear its much cheaper. Maybe we would get bigger and better cgi.
5. I wanted the spin off to be truly about the 7 Mikaelson siblings.
6. They do get great lines. Alaric use to get some too.
I never watched "The Vampire Diaries" because it seemed sort of "Twilight"-ish. Maybe that's not true. I don't know why I began binging on "The Originals"--aside from a general liking of vampire-based tales. But it is super-satisfying to the point I still don't care to watch "TVD" Unless it was just all of Joseph Morgan's scenes. But he was not a truly major character in the source show, from what understand.
I know this isn't really an answer to your question. Sorry.
Both are mediocre shows. Can't decide which one is worse. They got rid of Elena, turned Damon into a cry baby, Killed Camie and doomed Klaus to an eternal loneliness and pain. Both shows don't give us what we want, they constantly torture their characters and I hate it. I'm glad both are ending soon. I just want to see how it all ends already. Wonder how they gonna clean all that mess.
I liked TVD better than TO for a long time. With Season 3 of TO, I have recently switched to preferring TO over TVD.
TO is much more mature, and has much better writing. I also like that Michael Narducci has tried to give each season a personality, and it really shows. I find their bonds more interesting, and their mythology more real.
I think I stand alone on finding Season 3 to be the very best, but that season was incredible. The way they followed through from beginning to end is exactly how I show should be done. The Originals have a lot more complexities and a lot more of a history to write about. As a Graduate student in history, I find this particularly fascinating, even if they take liberties with it.
2. Which actors do you like in each series and why?
From TO: Joseph, Daniel, and Yusef
From TVD: Nina, Paul, and Ian
The reason Joseph and Daniel are so high up, and I consider them to be the best of both shows, is because they think very deeply about their characters and have made them very complex. They completely embody their characters when they are acting, and it is very believable. Even when they are over the top, it makes sense.
I didn't realize how good Yusef was until I watched Season 2 a second time, and then saw him play Vincent as well. This guy can do anything. He has all the right mannerisms to play any character. If TO gets anymore seasons, he might turn out to the best actor of both shows.
I don't think Nina things as much in complexities about her characters, but the fact that she has played so many different people, and managed to make them distinct is a testament to her abilities.
For Paul and Ian, I find the two also thinking about their characters in more profound ways. They really try to get into their characters head space, and have both managed to distinguish their characters quite well.
3. Who are the sexiest 3 actresses and the three hottest male actors in each show?
Actresses from TO: Claire, Danielle, and Rebecca
Actors from TO: Charles, Nathan, and Andrew
Actresses from TVD: Nina, Kat, and Malese
Actors from TVD: Ian, Matt (Davis), and Chris
4. How many viewers realise that almost all the major cast for the Originals are from Australia, Canada or the British Isles?
Yes, I realize that. I find it interesting and I like hearing Phoebe's accent slip on occasion.
I hope I understand the question right.
Actors from both shows: Daniel, Joseph, Claire, Nina, Ian, Yusef, Paul
Actors from other shows: Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones, and The Tudors), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones). Sorry, only those two. Natalie Dormer for Elijah, and Emilia Clarke for Klaus. Hehe.
6. Who agrees with me that Damon and Klaus have the best lines in the two series.
I do believe that Joseph and Ian get some of the very best lines, however, I've heard great lines from Daniel and Claire too!
Fabulous answers thank you MysticsOcean and loved reading your responses. Best wishes to you and I hope you enjoy many other great series like TWD, iZombie, Zombie Nation etc too... regards from downunda 😎
1. I'll have to say tvd because I am still following that but only because I invested more time into that one and because it''s easier to watch.
2. I don't have favourites anymore. But gtmh they are the guys that play Klaus and Elijah and the girl that plays Caroline. They all have a sensuality about them that is just there and cannot be faked.
3. They're all eye candy, that's why they were cast imo.
4. No idea (but me included)
5. No, this vampire thing has been milked enough.
6. I do. Vampires are bad and I love it when they are depicted as such.
Edit/added: 2 Rebecca was hot too but she's gone (or was, she'd go above Caroline)
