Aren't there still hundreds of Hitler Youth left alive?

I mean, they are indoctrinated at around ten years old as far back as the early to mid 1930s and up to 1945, and so some of them must still be around in their 80s and even 90s now.

So aren't they offended by this movie?

reply

Are you suggesting there were millions of Nazis in the 60s who were offended by Hogan's Heroes?

reply

I don't know what Hogan's Heroes is.

reply

Then you don't know what you are missing. One of the best TV series ever made that poked fun at Nazis.

reply

You have to watch it. It's great. Some full episodes are on YouTube.

reply

The story of Bob Crane is interesting as well.

reply

Hogan was the Hero we deserved.

reply

I remember hearing my Aunt talk about her neighbor, who grew up in Germany, taking about how our country needed a Hitler. That was on the 70s, and he could have been a former Hitler Youth.

Frankly, I don't give a rat's ass about what they are offended by.

reply

Most of the biggest critics of the Hitler Youth were former members. Something tells me they wouldn't mind.

reply

They were members of an evil organization. Who cares if they are offended?

reply

They were kids.

reply

So? Didn't stop the Nazis hanging Jewish boys of the same age as the Hitler Youth.

reply

13 year olds didn’t have much of a choice did they? What were they gonna do? Start a resistance unit in Nazi Germany and kill their parents?

reply

yaa kill their parents, somehow get arms, then fight eastern front battle hardened SS troops LOL.

reply

There are certainly members of the Hitler Youth still alive - the more prominent including former Pope Benedict XII and renowned artist Gerhard Richter.

I suspect neither of them has offered up any thoughts on Jojo Rabbit, though!

reply

Pope Benedict XII reigned in the 14th century, so probably is not having thoughts on anything. Ok, that was snark. I think you mean Pope Benedict XVI.

reply

Yes there are still former Hitler youth still alive. And if they still have Nazi beliefs, nobody cares if they are offended. And why should we care!

reply

DO you think that sort of undermines the artisitic esxpresion of the film?

reply

That Hitler Youth dude from "The Sound of Music" who danced in the gazebo is probably still alive, selling Von Trapp t-shirts in Salzburg.
