A good way to motivate people?

Was Fletcher a good teacher?

I don't think his method was ideal. I am not a motivation expert though.

I’ve encountered ‘teachers’ like this.

They’re fascinating creatures and they probably get some results from people who respond well to bullying, but I find they cause more damage than good.

Constant fear is not a good state for creativity, generally you get more of what you focus on, and it’s better to guide people to where they should go, not where they shouldn’t. If I tell you to not think of pink elephants… there’s only one thing you’ll be thinking about.

I’m glad someone made a film about these enigmatic people, I don’t like them but I am fascinated by them, and this was a superb portrait of one.

No. This movie is ridiculous. Abusing students isn't teaching. I guarantee Buddy Rich did not become a great drummer by being treated this way when he was young.

Fletcher was just desperate to secure his own legacy and live vicariously through young talent by trying to “discover” the next legend, by any means necessary. His actions were that of a sinking man.
