Think you have hit the nail right on the spot there. These top 5 are going to be the top picks for the Best Picture Oscars too in my opinion. Except for The Revenant though. In place of that one, it would be either Hacksaw Ridge (America loves it's war movies and because it's a Mel Gibson directed movie) or probably, even Sully (typical Hollywood feel good factor + Tom Hanks working for it)!

reply

By U.S. release date:

1. The Nice Guys
2. The Trust
3. Midnight Special
4. Snowden
5. Blood Father
6. Hell or High Water

reply

1. Hell or High Water
2. Zootopia
3. Kubo and the Two Strings
4. Sing Street
5. Eight Days a Week/Sully

reply

At the moment, I would probably now say ...

1) Sully ("great," seen it twice)

2) Snowden ("very good")

3) The Jungle Book ("very good," seen it twice)

4) Free State of Jones ("good/very good," seen it twice)

5) Hell or High Water ("good," seen it twice)

But I could flip Snowden and The Jungle Book, and Free State of Jones is more impressive visually than all of them (even The Jungle Book) except for Sully.

reply

So Far...

1. The Neon Demon
2. The Lobster
3. Swiss Army Man
4. Deepwater Horizon
5. Hell or High Water

reply

right now.

Sing Street
Swiss Army Man
10 Cloverfield Lane
Deadpool

and the last spot is a tie between the nice guys (loved it, but the last 20min were disappointing), the hunt for the wilderpeople, blair witch, and zootopia.

haven't seen hell or high water, kubo, and finding dory yet.
