A way to give kids nightmares!

OMG, just watching the trailer on TV made my stomach turn! Who decided to made a creepy story into an even creepier movie? Shame on Disney!

reply

It may seem darker but its still a family movie. Your kids wont freak out at the movies its not a horror ?

2010's Alice was pretty creepy (for little kids). That's just the style of the movie.

reply

I hate how people often believe children shouldn't be scared, or shouldn't have nightmares. *beep* NIGHTMARES! Everybody has them, and it's not natural that one can grow withouth having one.
It's AWESOME to be scared as a child! And the movie that scare a child today, is the movie that she'll love as a grown up, because those are the ones that'll feel trully nostalgic, and that will teach children to overcome their fears.
America, STOP overprotecting your children! Show them danger and how to avoid it, instead of pretending there's none.

reply

Seriously? There are too many REAL experiences that will give kids nightmares. We don't need to CAUSE them by seeing a creepy movie!

reply

This movie looks actually quite colorfull... you should watch the first one if you want nightmares

reply

LOL. As a kid, I DID see the first cartoon version, and I DID have nightmares! Maybe it has something to do with the author being on drugs!

reply

No, I ment the 2010 live-action movie by Tim Burton. For me the cartoon version is the only right one.

lol, but right, the author was for sure on drugs, I did not get anything that happend in the books

reply

I never watch Tim Burton films. I saw one years ago and hated it. His style is definitely not to my liking! LOL

reply

I will never eat Broccoli in my life, i ate a carrot once and didnt like it.

Before you judge a movie, i dunno, watch it.
Before you judge an entire directors catalogue, i dunno, watch it.

When you are no longer ignorant to his movies, then your opinion will carry more weight and may even be respected somewhat. Until then i shall continue to believe you are talking via your posterior.

reply

yer but if you eat one carrot and did not like it, why you would like eating more carrots when you didn't like the first hmmmm

Pointing me out on spelling is just one hell of a poor argument..

reply

True but movies are not carrots. A carrot is pretty much the same from one to another. If you were blindfolded and ate two carrots you could tell they were both carrots.

On the other hand if you were shown two movies without credits you might not be able to tell if the same director made them

reply

That applies if every Tim Burton movie is the same, but they are all vastly different and if you remain ignorant to them then you have no place criticizing his entire catalogue.

Now go eat your vegetables!!

reply

> Before you judge a movie, i dunno, watch it.
> Before you judge an entire directors catalogue, i dunno, watch it.

Because unlike types of vegetables there are so many good movies and directors I like, and life is too short to give every single big names multiple tries just so I could get used to them.

Like any type of art, if something comes along at the right time in your life and affects you, then great. But there is no need to push yourself over just for the sake of agreeing with others.

Besides, I honestly think all Tim Burton movies are carrots, there is no broccoli.

reply

Agree, I hate all of Tim Burton's films, the guy is a sicko

reply

Only one minor part of the first movie was truly nightmarish (the moat with the severed heads.) The rest isn't any more frightening than a lot of other kids movies.

Certainly neither of them are as traumatic as Toy Story 3.

reply

All children are different. Some will love this movie, some won't, just like every other movie, tv show, fairy tale, etc. out there. It is up to the parents to decide, not random strangers on the internet. Shame on YOU for being so closed-minded.

reply

WOW. And you, for judging a person you don't even know!

reply

Oh, you mean like the way you judged all children and their families? Cool.

reply

I didn't judge people. I said the FILM would cause nightmares! I guess you read between the lines, and added your own interpretation. It obviously offends you that I have a bad opinion of the film. And I am disappointed that Disney would produce such a film.

reply

How about stop raising soft kids. I was watching Nightmare On Elm Street and Friday The 13th at the age of 7. I had nightmares, but it made me a real kid.

reply

at least friday the 13th had a good sexual moral lesson. filthy camp leaders. This movie seems to have a scary looking possibly pederast character.

reply

SO the Lewis Caroll classic gets raped a second time?

reply

it seems someone doesnt have an imagination. I loved the first one so did my kids, and they will be watching this one too.

if you dont like it, why comment ?

reply

Since when is commenting a film exclusive to those who enjoyed it? I do agree that he is too closed-minded, though. I wonder how he reacts to films with actual mature themes...

reply

"He" is a "she" who loves horror movies, rollercoasters and scary movies. I just don't think we need to creep out our kids. And it's just my opinion. You're entitled to yours, too. Why people get emotional and insulting about other people's opionions amazes me.

reply

I think you are missing the catharsis that film (and all art) can provide for an audience. Witnessing scary things from the comfort of a television screen can help people come to terms with their own experiences; if we are to relate to the main characters or to thematical elements. Perhaps with inspiration from a protagonist facing their fears and facing life, an engaged audience can better come to terms with synchronistic real-life experiences.

Life is wonderful, beautiful, and terrifying. It's a little disingenuous to shield children away from things just because they MIGHT be initially frightened by something. I say "might" because creepiness is subjective; as a 7 or 8 year old, I would have been transfixed by these films. I loved the Burton Batman films as a kid.

reply

Maybe because you said "Shame on Disney" at the end of your "opinion"? The same children you don't want to "creep out" from watching a harmless film are the ones that have already been exposed to unsuitable content on the internet.

reply

We’re all mad here.
