Did you actually see the film? Because it's good.

Wondering if people actually saw this movie because it was good. Not excellent or amazing but it was good. Much better than the first one. I saw it in IMAX 3D in a completely packed theater and some people even clapped at the end. I am starting to think the reviews and threads are being made by Xmen fans who just want the worst for this movie as a lot of their comments are vague and touch on things only shown in the trailer. "god this movie was terrible" "don't waste your money" "fell asleep" or perhaps you didn't actually see it.

The opening scene was visually stunning along with the sea of time scenes. They gave good back story into all of the wonderland characters. I thought Baron Cohen was really funny as time, and all other parts were played well also. Mia did a much better job emotionally as Alice in this one I thought. The story line behind the red queen and white queen was interesting, and most likely this will win another Oscar for costuming.

Also keep hearing people say the story is all over the place. When did that happen? As I recall the plot was to go back in time to save the hatter, which is what the ENTIRE movie is about. Don't know why people think it was all over the place. When you are going back and forth in time that's not all over the place that's called the plot.

I just don't understand how people can take a movie like Alice so seriously. It's literally all make believe. It was fun and I enjoyed it along with everyone else I saw it with. All in all it was far from being a bad movie. I didn't read the book and didn't walk into it with any expectations and thought it was pretty good and will most likely buy it when it comes out on blu ray. Maybe some people can't separate "bad" from "not what they were expecting".

Saw it last night and, having not seen the first one, thought it was bad. Mad Hatter is ridiculously annoying. I agree that the plot was simple and I can see how it would attract kids, but it just wasn't doing it for me.

MacGruber don't play like homie, and homie don't play like that

reply

I thought it was good also. None of the gross violence they usually put in fantasy movies. It was more cerebral than knee jerk.

reply

I agree with all your points. I'm starting to think people like mindless action more than the thoughts and emotions that this movie gave me and my family.

reply

This and X-Men: Apocalypse were terrible.

reply

I haven't seen Xmen yet. But both films are getting pretty bad reviews. However I didn't think this film was "terrible" at all. I thought it was much better than the first one, which I also liked. It wasn't bad by any means. It's not amazing by any means, but its a good and fun movie. I'd give it a 7/10

reply

That's cool that you liked it. I was hoping no it would be better than the first but I found it to be just as bad.

reply

Totally agree. People just want to hate on everything these days. It's truly sad. This is a good movie. Not the best one ever, but enjoyable. It's unfair to judge it that way.

because people are getting tired of making just FILMS stick in token minirorites and its a good film with flashy CGI and such and they think we are happy we need we want good quality films etc etc

What? I don't understand your post.

reply

Exactly. I loved it. I have to admit I watched a pirated copy, but if a film doesn't grab my attention and hold onto it, I just stop watching and delete it. This film was fun all the way through. It never became tedious.

It's really unfortunate that it's doing badly in theaters because it's a great movie and actually better than the first.

reply

Possibly it is doing bad in theaters because many people who might enjoy it are thieves like you. It is a bit disingenuous to bemoan a film not making sufficient money when your thievery contributes to the problem. Why so many people believe they are entitled to steal at their own leisure boggles the mind.

reply

Yeah cause businesses aren't doing the same thing right? Charging 8 dollars for popcorn that cost them 10 cents. Movies are getting more expensive every time. Not everyone can afford to fork up that amount. Maybe businesses should be more considerate as well.

reply

the good Yes the visuals were excellent I mean they out did themselves with the visuals and making everything look excellent

Oh yeah I agree with the characters that did come back with Hammish and her mother and how she wanted the impossiable to become possiable.

Okay for the Hatter back in time that part was confusing since it changes how the hatter reacts to his family being murdered.

having his family alive how does that not change things? How does the hatter having his family alive help things?

When we got to the first film Hatter was more serious and more sharper with his wit and stuff in this one why seeing the scrap of clothe change things but she changes it that his family is alive but Tick Tock says you cant change things if you do then you could destory things

This and X-Men: Apocalypse were terrible.

thats why I wont waste my time watching X-Men the visuals are all stunning but that cant be the soul reason I go see a movie

I think you are just getting confused. I responded on your own thread.

His family had been alive the whole time. Instead of being killed by the fire, the Queen of Hearts had captured them and kept them prisoner in her ant farm.

Alice didn't change that. She only discovered what had really happened to them.

reply

Peeps keep saying Alice changed things with the family being alive.
No, she didn't.

Alice sees Iracebeth at 10. "I'll get even with him (Hatter for laughing)"

Jabberwocky barbequing everybody time. Alice sees the family was protected by Cardmen at Red Queen's wish and taken.

(Implied Alice first visit --movie 1--happens )

(Movie #2 happens with Hatter showing Alice his first hat)

(Movie #2 Alice set off in the chromosphere and... see Iracebeth at 10)

Movie #2 time Hatter and Alice find his family ant-size. Then Alice goes to put the Chronosphere back. Everything rusts up. The chromosphere leaks everything is saved.

Hatter is reunited with family.

This is a beautiful movie. What A fun ride this was . Beautiful colors beautiful story . It's sort of reminded me of the Wizard of Oz. I was not a fan of the first one. But I really really like this one .

reply

The main reason peeps are hating on it is because Alice/Mia looks like she is 30 with lines on her forehead ffs!!!!

Lines are normal. Don't hate.

reply

It reminded me of the Wizard of OZ at times too. Especially when the Red Queen *SPOILER ALERT KIND OF* locks up Alice and co. In the "vegetable jail" at her castle.

I loved the original and had to see this one. Not sure how I feel about it yet because I saw the 2D version. I am going to go see the 3D this weekend. I will give my full opinion of the film then.

life ask death why do people love me and not you death says you are a beautiful lie I am a sad truth

reply

I took the family out to see it today and it turned out to be pretty good.

Not Kubrick, but it was what it set out to be; a simple and easily-digestible adventure.

Pretty sad to see it bomb, considering the inferior 'Alice in Wonderland' made a giant mountain of money. Also the fact that the money it's not making is going into the hands of the critically panned X-Men: Apocalypse.

Movies are just a crap shoot, though.

reply

Frankly, I totally enjoyed it. Flaws and all.

The chronosphere was uh - more sci-fi than LC, but the PERFORMANCES were impeccable.

Would have liked more CheshireCat, but....

In an eggshell, I enjoyed the experience: laugh, tears, enjoyment. It's worthwhile.

Theatre said they were at capacity at opening, but a couple days later was chill.

Oh, and "Impossible?" I have a new word: unpossible!
