I really cannot understand why so many people hate this movie. It's unique, interesting, well-written, a true masterpiece in my eyes. I enjoyed every minute of it. I know everyone's taste differs, but I'd rate this move among the elites, would give at least a 8,4 rating. Do people just rate it down because it won Best picture and not freaking Boyhood or The imitation game?

"Birdman" is brilliant on many levels, but it left me a little cold. If you step back a bit from this film, you can at least understand that others might think the same. Btw. I hate to tell you this, but that 7.9 will be a 7.4 by next year.
It is a fact many people don't understand how good the movie is. I say this talking with some people who get bored or sleep on the movie.
My conclusion is not everyone really likes to watch movies, I mean it. This movie is a acting masterpiece, but for me acting masterpiece is not enough for 10/10, so I gave 8 out of 10.
This movie was absolutely sensational. The acting, the soundtrack, the artistry, the gorgeous shots of New York....very worthy of it's Best Picture Oscar win and I agree with you, it's a masterpiece!!!!
shareI absolutely agree that "Birdman" was a very interesting, authentic and engaging movie with layered and very interesting characters and a clever, appealing story. Its one of the best art movies out there and I am also convinced it is underrated. I get it may not be everyones taste, but some people should differentiate a bit more and appreciate at least the great performances, cinematography and originality of the movie.
The rating should definitely be more than 8 if not 8,5.
The original post is dumb. A 7.9 is almost in the top 250 list, so to say that rating means "people hate it" is crazy.

share7.9 is NOT the score of a movie that is 'hated'... Just a couple of degrees higher and you're in Top 250 territory... It may not have been rated as highly as YOU wanted it to be, but it still has a very respectable rating on IMDB, so please get some perspective.
