Girl Meets a Christmas Maya (episode discussion)

Good episode overall. Too bad Riley is borderline retarded.

I don't think Riley is special needs but just privileged and spoiled. Cory and Topanga have given her not only a safe place, much less all she could want, but also are a bit to loose in their parenting. They are more focused on her being happy and finding her own way then taking the reigns and guiding her. Why? Because they are privileged themselves so they can afford to have a child like Riley.

She's anything but spoiled if anything she's privilaged or sheltered!

I find it hard to separate spoiled and privileged. Financially it seems the Matthews have given Riley whatever she could want and attention wise, based off what happened with her missing bear and more, it seems that 9/10 they bend to her every whim. Making Topanga putting her foot down and asserting she was her parent and Riley had responsibilities a bit of a shocker. One I wish would be a consistent thing, Riley working at the bakery, but unfortunately Riley is the sole character which can't maintain her development from one episode to the next.

Ava's Spoiled NOT Riley!

RILEY WOULD stand up for her friends NO Matter What!

She actually worries more about her friends than she worries about her self!

Maybe it's a little vain and self centered In the since that she'd probably sacrifice her self/Life, for her friend.,

But the same could be said even if a parent sacrificed herself for the life of the child, because they'd feel Sad over it, even that could be vain and self centered, IN a Sense, MY cousin to a psych class at URI, and that's what they went over in his class one day.

I enjoyed this episode. It shows that Christmas is about the people we love...not the presents we receive. Yet, I agree that it is more heavy-handed than necessary. My favorite part is Smackle's explanation about her gift to Maya.
