That's So Raven will suffer the same fate as Girl Meets World

If Girl Meets World didn't last, what makes anyone think That's So Raven won't fail too? I hear a lot of talk about how Good Luck Charlie got canceled because of a lesbian couple. The show got 97 episodes with a fourth season which is when the lesbian couple was introduced. GLC passed the 64 episode limit therefore it wasn't canceled. If parents are against homosexuals, there is no way they will let their kids watch That's so Raven considering the fact the actress is lesbian in real life.

And why do people blame people watching the episodes early as the reason Girl meets world got canceled? It could be bad storylines. It could be the fact they continued the R*cas mess when it should have stayed in middle school. It could be the fact it doesn't do justice to Boy Meets Works. I mean hell we barely see Cory and Topanga much less Topanga. Boy meets world fans returned for them and when they barely appear on screen, people lose interest.

Even I think this is harsh.

Disney shows only go 4 seasons so GLC wasn't cancelled at all.

In regards to the lgbt agenda people will boycott the network not a particular show and judging by Disney's ratings maybe the move left has factored in to it's collapse. Now it wouldn't be the main reason that's chord cutting but Nick has taken back over.

I think That's so Raven will do better because it's a former Disney show. GMW was an ABC show transformed into a kid's show and that turned a lot of it's older fans off.

reply

no every child network's ratings collapsed around the same time nick CN and disney all get 1.5-1.8 ratings now, it's just that disney was able to stave it off a year longer than nick or CN before theirs inevitably slipped as well

reply

Nick is actually drawing some 2.0's still. It's most likely DC is getting off prime time. They're getting killed. No doubt cable chord cutting, internet is the primary reason for the dip. Even live sports are declining now.

But I know how Christians roll and even if it's a smaller % it can kill ratings.

reply

Yeah, this is fake. If anything, not having diversity and LGBT couples and just doing something different is hurting Disney and ABC and Freeform. That is not how Christians who are young roll and it wouldn't kill any ratings. The young parents of the now feel the same as the majority of younger people in their thirties and forties feel about the world. It is a generational thing and guess what the parents generation is on the side of being in favor of diversity of all kinds.

reply

What is it with this idea that parents are against LGBT couples? Most of the parents of kids now are not of the generations that are against it. There will always be people that are against it, but the majority of the parents in their thirties and forties are not against having a LGBT couple on a kids show.

If there is a problem and Disney thinks that, then that is a Disney problem, not a real issue.

Are you kidding me? Do you really think Generation X doesn't have its share of homophobes?

Also, a website called Cartoon Brew (at least I think it was?) posted some complaints that parents sent to kid networks like Disney and Nickelodeon, and there were quite a few that disliked anything that promoted homosexuality or alluded to it. I think there is less homophobia than there once was, but it still exists and probably still sizable. Also, parents can be really stupid and overbearing about what's shown to their precious snowflakes.

First off, you mean THAT'S SO RAVEN 2 since it's not like the original show is coming back and it's merely a SEQUEL series. Second, Good Luck Charlie Season 4 was already stated to be the last season long before the lesbian couple episode aired so it wasn't like that was the downfall of getting cancelled. It was already ending and I doubt Disney would even end the show anyway over an episode depicting a gay couple. That's just silly.

exactly lol glc was over after season 4 anyhow.

reply

it will be fine if disney doesn't expect astounding ratings and the show keeps it light instead of trying to show life lessons down people's throats

The spin-off of That's So Raven will succeed or fail entirely based off of its own merits. If the fanbase considers it a well written show that respects the characters that both came before and after the original, and it attracts new fans, then it will succeed (much like its parent show).

Alternately, if the show is poorly written, and fails to convince either the core fanbase or any new viewers of its merit, then it will fail (much like Cory in the House).

reply

of course it'll fail, it's not new, just now they'll focus on raven's "kid" is "psychic" which is like Medium [based off the real Allison DuBois] except the BS part that the kids started becoming "psychic"

Funny how they may have had (OR NOT) issues w/ Rowan's "Queer" statement but they'll reboot a show where the main actress dates girls in real life! ?
