Why did Abbot get killed by the C4 explosive? The aliens clearly see the future so knew the bomb was planted from the outset. This is proven by the fact that one of the Aliens shoves both Dr. Banks and Ian down the hatch before the bomb goes off. Usually having foreknowledge of an event comes in handy when it comes to saving your own life.

Free will is meaningful for humans because we think in a sequential way. The aliens think in a simultaneous way, they enact the future, they don't change it.
