Padme was a worse “PC” female than Rey ever was

Natalie Portman was a really terrible “elected” teenage queen of a planet. She 100% miscalculates the chances of the trade federation invading instead of just cutting a deal to end the blockade, was easily mic dropped by the ambassador of trade federation (with multiple Jedi witnesses right there! and droid recordings by R2!) and was easily tricked by her senator into dooming the republic. She’s constantly duped and tricked by him in fact even when he’s transparently super fake and manipulative. She’s also somehow a front line infiltrator and combat expert. She survives the geonosis arena battle that numerous Jedi couldn’t, assaults her Naboo palace as if she’s seal team 6 blasting war droids left and right, and orders trained from birth clone troops in the middle of a war zone to assault a mountain top fortress when they’re actively advising her to get to safety. But Star Wars fans have an issue with Rey quickly showing natural talent with a lightsaber? Give me a break!

reply

Padme made mistakes.
Rey was "perfect", whatever that means.

I like Padme more, she looks more natural for a big screen role, and not some jumped up upper-class Brit socialite pining for her lost pony with such a godawful RP accent.

It’s not a “mistake” to be an autistic judge of character where you second guess and question a Jedi master that just saved your life (and the chancellor that dispatched them to boot!) while an obviously predatory senator is “trustworthy”. Such decisionmaking is far more convenient to the plot than any of Rey’s decisions or abilities. Qui hon clearly explains to Anakins mother that Jedi gifts allow exceptional abilities to “see things before they happen” and Rey’s abilities with flight and and saber wielding make just as much sense as anakins abilities with his first time completion of a pod race and his flight over naboo. Rey makes poor decisions through the movies as well and is definitely not perfect, but the decisions are not as nonsensical as padme’s.

Also — LOL for “natural for a big screen role”. She’s a stereotype just like the one embodied by the princess in space balls... “just what we needed, a druish princess!”

Are you actually trying to defend the shitty ST over the underrated PT? Pathetic.

reply

P3 has a lower IMDb rating than the S3!

reply

That's cos the movie critics either lost their minds, or were forced to adhere to the SJW agenda in order to put food on the table. Give a Disney movie a bad review, you will NEVER have another early review ever again, capische?

reply

The sequels have better reviews overall on average. They don't wanna talk about that though. All those sites "aRe RiGGed!"

reply

No. I hate the ST because I grew up with the Thrawn trilogy, and I loved the prequels mostly. But the great parts about the prequels almost entirely exclude Natalie Portman and some of the highlights of the sequels involve Rey’s character and especially her chemistry with Adam Driver and Harrison Ford.

reply

Fair enough. But Portman didn't really bother me.

But for some reason, I can't stand the sight and personalities of most of the ST principals:
Rey strikes me as far too posh to be what she is, I actually liked Jyn Erso in R1 more.
Adam Driver, I can't fucking stand the sight of, they couldn't have chosen anyone more ugly or gormless than him.
John Boyega is the token black guy, but he's a Brit so it's not so bad.
I actually think the only ST principal I like is Poe, he has charisma. His standing up to Purple Hair was a highlight of the execrable Last Jedi for me.

So yeah, Abrams and KK managed to choose mostly bad actors for the main roles.

Real solid argument you've got there. Very fact-driven and mature.

reply

your flawed argument would be relevant if Pedme picked up a lightsaber and beat the shit out of Darth Maul with no training at all...

reply

You know, I would waste time arguing with you how flawed this argument was, but I have laundry to do. If I look like I'm getting smaller, it means I'm leaving the room. Bye.

reply

I like both of them 😉!

Natalie Portman is a really bad actor for a good one

Fans complained about Rey being strong. "Why is she so strong?" This movie told us. And they STILL complained.

reply

Daisy Ridley is a much worse actress, she can only act "posh".

reply

She acted "posh" because that was what the film makers wanted from her. It was one of their selection criteria for the part of Rey. If you listen to Daisy Ridley speaking with her normal English accent she doesn't sound posh.

reply

JFC...

Do you realize that the reason why Padme is a kickass fighter in the prequels is that she is Princess Leia's mother? Yes, I know she died before Leia was born but the point is to establish that Leia got her badassery from her mother somehow.
