who had better action scenes padme or rey ?

which female's acation scenes did you like better in each of their own trilogies?

reply

Padme looks more attractive firing a blaster than Rey does holding a lightsaber.

Padmé's fight scenes are way more believable than Rey's. At least with Padmé, you can believe that she was trained by Royal Naboo security in how to use firearms, grappling guns, and several other forms of combat that wouldn't be difficult for an intelligent, non-force-sensitive to use. It's also possible she continued her combat training when she became a Senator and learned a few more tricks. She is also not perfect at it, considering how mauled she got in the arena by the Nexu, or how she didn't engage in heavy fighting at all throughout the prequel trilogy.

Rey's abilities make no sense because we are given no explanation in how she's able to fight at all, much less with that metal stick, or lightsabers. Usually if someone grows up alone as a scavenger, chances are her fighting methods would be very crude and amateurish, mostly consisting of self-taught firearms use, throwing things, maybe setting traps using her environment around her, punching, and kicking. She fights as if a professional trained her in how to use that metal stick she had on Jakuu, and yet they never explain how or why she was able to. You can't learn stuff like that in a vacuum.

And don't even get me started on how she could instantly use a lightsaber. Those things are dangerous if you have no training at all in how to use them. There's a reason they started students at the Jedi Academy on vibro-swords turned down to low-power. You could burn your back or take one of your own limbs off if not trained in handling them.

Rey owned a stick and once she fought off a couple of drunkards, now she is the best force user of all time.

Rey’s skills are no different than Anakin’s on tattooine and the battle of Naboo though.

Anakin was far better fleshed out and his reasons for being strong with the force were more believable. I mean soon after we met him we find out that he might be the result of a prophecy that a virgin woman would birth an ridiculously powerful force user. (Whether that’s true or not is left ambiguous as it may have been Sidious)

reply

Rey’s score was Palpatine’s right from the opening scene of TFA. Anakin’s reasons were paper-thin. He never finished a pod race. He had no training in the force but mastered technique of trusting in it, something that Obi-Wan had to drill and remind Luke to do with the drone practice and intervening in the trench run.

Anakin made many mistakes, he had no patience, he rushed into things, he gave into his anger and he eventually lost to Obi Wan on mustafar and lost to Count dooku the first time. Even TPM showed Anakins weaknesses, the Jedi council did not like him, he missed his mother and him wanting to see her again was a weakness because attachment is not a trait of the Jedi and this ends up being his downfall. And while I’m at it the scene where Anakin left Tatooine was actually pretty effective because they fleshed out the relationship between Anakin and Shmi, that’s something that Jar Jar Abrams knows nothing about. Rey barely ever made any mistakes, she was always on the side of right and virtue, common traits of the Mary Sue.

If it makes you feel any better Legolas from Lord of the Rings is a Mary Sue because I know you are desperately searching for an equivalence to Rey’s Mary Sueness

reply

You’re being a dope. You identify young Anakin’s “weakness” missing his mother and being disliked by an elder council? That’s like “my weakness is I work too hard and care too much”. The mental gymnastics here are incredible.

reply

Not being dope at all, his attachment to his mother lead to his fear which lead him to the dark side. Anyone who watches episodes II and III knows this. Rey would have been immediately liked by the Jedi council and she probably would have taught them how to be better Jedi since she constantly outperforms established characters with no explanation. Common trait of the Mary Sue.

If Episode I had been a standalone film I could see an argument being made for Anakin being a Mary Sue but that’s not the case, he was first established as a happy and selfless kid who then continually sinks into darkness and despair and his life was a tragedy. Seeing how far he fell added to the emotional impact. I’m not saying his story was handled flawlessly, not even close but he is not a Mary Sue. He had weaknesses, flaws and vulnerabilities, Rey did not.

Loads of people have issues with Anakin in a Naboo fighter, in fact most people dislike the prequels and Anakin's portrayal altogether. Jake Lloyd copped way worse criticism than Ridley and she is the significantly worse actor.

Rey is all knowing and all powerful, even when she 'messes up' it saves everyone.

The BEST part in TFA is when they convince everyone to let them save Rey (via deception) only to discover that she 'already saved herself' 😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣

Padme

reply

In my opinion Rey.

Natalie Portman pointed plastic guns. That was literally all she did. Even the way she held them looked fake.

Rey and it's not even close.

Nothing will ever beat Padme's miraculous recovery on the sand after falling out of that clone trooper ship.

One of the major highlights of the prequels.

Who looked better: Padme
Who fought realistically (not like an uncoordinated girl): Padme
Who could keep their horse mouth closed: Padme
