Why bring Palpatine back?
Why not just make Kylo the big bad baddie? Seriously every time they even attempted to do something interesting with his character they fucked it up.

shareDum!
shareI assume that JJ Abrams was planning on making Snoke the main antagonist, but had to change things up when Rian Johnson decided to kill the character off.
shareYeah but by that point Kylo became the baddie of the empire 2.0 at the end and they should have just continued that route if snoke was going to stay dead, or make snoke Darth Plageius ( that would have placed a constant threat over the galaxy that wasn’t thrown in at the last minute and it would have respected the legacy of Luke and Anakin)
shareAgreed. I was holding out hope that Kylo Ren was going to remain a villain all the way way through, but in the back of my mind I was thinking "I really hope they don't make him have a redemptive arc." I was thinking this ever since I saw a The Force Awakens. Also are we all suppose to forget all the people that Kylo killed for him to have a forced redemption at the conclusion of this trilogy?
shareWell he’s Darth Vader 2.0 of course he had a redemption arc lol.
shareI read up that the film-makers had actually been planning on bringing in a new bad guy played by Matt Smith, but there was executive meddling involved. Both Kathleen The Bitch Kennedy and Bob the Butt-Boy Iger took a look at this new villain and screamed "People aren't gonna know who this is! They're gonna be confused! This has to be consistent with Star Wars! We need a villain everyone's familiar with!" This caused them to have to re-write a large part of the script with Palpatine in it, and led to a lot of re-shoots, which is one reason [I heard] that the film looks kinda weird and inconsistent in some parts.
A large contributer to this was Ruin Johnson F-ing up the work they had planned with Snoke being the Big Baddie of the trilogy, so they had to compensate for his shitstorm of a film.
Because bringing Palpatine back effectively destroys everything the original trilogy did, and all of the sacrifices and the celebrations of the characters in the original trilogy mean absolutely nothing now, and that’s what Disney wanted. Vader’s turning to save Luke, which was such a HUGE moment, didn’t mean shit anymore...because hey, Palpatine is alive. And Vader saved Luke so he could grow to be a bitter old hermit.
These new movies effectively destroyed every good thing about the original trilogy. They killed pretty much any character from the original trilogy, and they made every struggle every character went through in the original trilogy completely pointless.
And what really pisses me off, is they didn’t have the decency to put the 3 main characters from the original trilogy in a scene together in 3 movies! Disney dropped the ball so unbelievably hard with this trilogy it’s sickening to me, and I’m not even a huge Star Wars fan...I just respect the original trilogy for it’s originality and creativity. I could only imagine what true die hard Star Wars fans feel about what Disney did with this disgraceful trilogy.
They took every great idea from the first trilogy, ruined it while at the same time stealing from it and piggybacking off it, and raked in the cash. I’m glad by the third movie people generally were wise to what they were doing by this point, and it didn’t make as much money.
Yep and it basically turns out everything was building up to MaRey Sue being the chosen one and destroying the sith once and for all. Something NO ONE ever wanted to see.
shareBecause Ren wanted Kylo to be good and Mary Sue always get what she wants.
The real answer is: Shit writters.
