Kids don't like star wars anymore
Why not? They love marvel films.
shareLast year I taught 1st grade, and only three of my students liked Star Wars. That's three out of 23. The most obvious reason (aside from disney putting out terrible Star Wars movies) is that kids nowadays have A LOT more options. So, why should they care about a 40 year old franchise? Star Wars is now for old people.
shareI would also argue that you have better alternatives. IE Marvel. Also a Disney property but Marvel Studios is packed with people who love the source material and aren't trying to reinvent the wheel.
shareI'm not into super hero movies, but the majority of my students love them. So, you're probably right. I'm not sure why Disney did what they did with Star Wars, but they certainly hurt the brand. In my opinion it's been hurt beyond repair. Sure Star Wars will still make money, but never again will it make MONEY!
shareSo I don't necessarily blame Disney, I blame the studios. So Disney owns Marvel Studios and Lucas Film. Each Studio has a degree of autonomy. Of course Disney has a a huge hand in it, but Marevl is run by Marvel lovers. With Lucasfilm you have Kathleen Kennedy who has a woderful career of films. But when it comes to Star Wars she doesn't have that love for it that others do. This is manifested with the writing, directing and casting choices they have made.
shareTad of an exaggeration.

Because Lucas killed the franchise's soul, and Disney killed franchise's genuineness.
