Leia's role in Episode IX.

what do you guys think of Leia's role in Episode IX?

since they are using useen footage form TFA & TLJ I think she is going to have a big role and a lot of screen time in the movie. I hope they find a way to make the footage form EP 7 & 8 fit into the EP 9 story.

reply

Will her scene have anything to do with what is actually happening in Ep. 9? For instance, she can't forgive Kylo for Han's death since that wouldn't have been filmed. It just sounds like a throwaway scene that can be a flashback or something irrelevant since it wasn't important enough to use when it was originally filmed.

They appear to be adding people like Lando and Yoda for marketing instead of it being vital for a great script. They made a big deal about Rose, Phasma and Holdo, but did nothing with them except brag about having strong female characters.

reply

I hope they will have a way to make her scenes fit into the EP 9 story.

reply

Well they won't have enough footage to show her bitchslapping her idiot son into submission or being elected president of a democratic Galaxy, so I'm bound to be disappointed in whatever they do.

I hope they manage to give her a substantial role and use CGI to alter dialogue and expand on the footage they have, but that's not guaranteed. They may just show her giving commands on a ship that blows up.

reply

I hope they have enough footage to show a mother & son scene time. flashback or not.

reply

But will there be bitchslapping???

I just won't be happy with the Star Wars universe, until that twerp is humiliated by his tiny little mother.

reply

maybe.

reply

On the one hand, I read they shot a crap ton of footage that was never used, so i've no doubt they could probably put together a whole film worth of outtakes if they wanted to. But I simply don't see how any of it can be relevant unless JJ cut a big twist from the first movie. I fear they may burden this film with a big pointless side story of Leia simply because they have the footage and she passed.

reply

I'm hoping they have enough footage for a good storyline for Leia in EP 9.

reply

My fear is it will look like the Trail of the Pink Panther or that one "Bruce Lee movie" made after his death. Both of these movies had used previous footage to make a movie featuring an actor who was already dead. They were terrible.

I can't imagine them using footage from the previous two movies and having it make sense. Is Leia going to suddenly pop up in a random scene, talking about Han as if he's still alive? Will they have awkward close ups of her making vague statements about the First Order then cut to a close up of a different actor reacting to her statements as if they are in the same room? They would have to alter her lines and use stand-ins every now and then for it to make any sense.

reply

there movie came out in the 90's and I think technology was terrible back then.

but with today technology they will find a way to make the unseen footage from the previous two movies to fit into the EP 9 story.

reply

My point was never about technology.

reply

then what was the point?

reply

Making her scenes make sense without using a body double or voice over.

reply

don't worry, they will find a way to make her scenes make sense.

reply

It didn’t make sense when they had the benefit of a living actor.

reply

why do you think that?

reply

I don't think anything in TLJ makes sense.

reply

Why do you think this?

reply

Maybe they'll have another actress record new lines, and CGI her mouth to fit them?

reply

that would be weird. if they did that then Leia will have a new voice and it will look weird.

reply

Not sure but I am bummed that most of the extra footage is from TFA and not TLJ. Carrie still seemed to be getting used to acting again in TFA and did a much better job in TLJ.

reply

she did a good job in both movies.

reply

She did better in TLJ. Even she thought so.

reply

Also, her plastic surgery had "settled" by then, and her face was able to move.

Can they use CGI to make an overly botoxed face mobile now?

reply

They couldn't even digitally remove a mustache without making the whole face look fake. So I doubt it....

reply

I think she did a good job in both movies.

reply

A roll and black pudding with a runny egg.

In all seriousness though does anyone care at this point?

I'll not be paying to see it and I doubt many others will either.

reply

A lot of ppl are going to see it.
