Does George Lucas regret selling Lucasfilm?

Best video on this subject I've ever seen, sums up the ingratitude of the so-called "fans" perfectly!

Interesting video, but I don't fully agree.

I think that the whole "tossing George's ideas" thing has been blown out of proportion. It makes sense given how upset Lucas was initially was over it.

It seems the story was somewhere in the middle. They didn't use Lucas's exact outlines because they wanted TFA to focus more on the OG cast and to be more fan-friendly to reboot the franchise in the public mind.

However, it has since come to light that Lucas's ideas were not tossed altogether as they thought. Since then, we don't know how Lucas really feels as he has not spoken publicly about the new films since before he ever saw TFA.

I would say he doesn't miss the amount of work and stress associated with running the company.

However, I would argue that he misses the filmmaking process and having control over his creation dearly. He related his experience to a break up so you know it has hit him hard perhaps harder than he expected.

I just read he visited the set of Han Solo and stayed for 5 hours helping out with a scene they were shooting. He originally offered his service as a creative consultant and the drafts for several movies including the sequel trilogy. I think he was hoping Disney was going to ask him his opinions on this and that more often. He was probably under an impression he was going to be involved distantly but still have a large creative mark. Once they threw out his drafts he realized they were not going to make the movies he wants and they were not going to ask him for help.

You have to consider that this statement was right after he learned they weren't using his outlines and before he'd seen TFA or knew what it was about.

It seems Lucas, and almost everyone at the time, was under the impression that his ideas were dropped completely. It has come to light since then that this is most definitely not the case. While his outlines weren't used entirely, many of his concepts from the outlines have been used.

Honestly, I think Lucas had a kneejerk reaction to his outlines not being followed. He seems to be over it now, evidenced by him still visiting sets, etc.
