where is the defeminized cut?

It actually sounds interesting.

reply

It's on the pirate bay. Despite the name, the focus is on cutting out major plot holes and corny bits. And Rey and Leia are still central figures. It's actually not a bad cut, but is getting bad press because of the stupid name.

reply

What's the quality like?

reply

I haven't watched but it's from a CAM source, probably not too good. Hard subs apparently

reply

Hmm. I'll wait until the Blu Ray comes out and see if a quality edit is made. I used to scoff at fan edits, but some have really impressed me in recent years.

In fact, Adywan's ESB:Revisited has become my default version of the film to watch.

reply

Upon further research, this looks like just a troll job. I doubt there's any real merit to this fan edit.

reply

The quality is quite good even with the Chinese subtitles. Quite a few peers for d/l.

reply

Not interested now that it's clear that this is just trolling.

reply

At least we know there is a very good cam out there.

The Last Jedi minus Girlz Powah:

"Cut out most shots showing female fighters/pilots and female officers commanding people around/having ideas."

"NO HALDO (sic)! She simply doesn't exist. Her whole subplot doesn't exist. The Kamikaze is carried out by Poe. ( = Poe dies.)"

"Leia never scolds, questions nor demotes Poe. He is a respected and very skilled high-ranking member of the resistance."

"When there's a scene where a woman is cut in making some important statement that can be substituted by another statement by a guy, then she gets cut out. Works pretty well actually."

"Wookie eats the Porg, or at least isn't interrupted in trying to do so."

"No green milk." (What the f**k)

reply

It's a publicity stunt to boost box office numbers.

reply

I think this is probably the case. Just seeing the articles in my news feed... "Last Jedi Stars Mock Sexist Fan Edit" and the like... they're trying to convince people it's their moral duty to go see it to fight misogyny or something

reply

Agreed.

reply

Hobbit Trilogy 2 hour fan edit is amazing.

reply

Which one is that? I have Dustin Lee's, and it's my preferred cut now. But his is 4 hours long.

reply

Thanks! It will be interesting to see which one I prefer.

reply

Aye. I will be curious to hear your thoughts, I thought the Dustin Lee Maple Films one still left a lot of fluff that annoyed me in. This one is pure Hobbit at warp speed, the pacing throws some people off but I am a huge fan. Nearly every scene is, finally, about Bilbo.

reply

True. I hated a lot of the stuff he left in. For example, the fact that Gandalf still used the moth to summon the Eagles. I hope that's not in this version....

reply

Ugh. Still has the stupid moth.

reply

:( I guess no fan edit is infallible. The moth doesn't really annoy me but the NAZGUL THEME playing when Thorin approaches that white loser near the end of AUJ....ARRRGGGHHH.

reply

I'll have to watch it all the way through. But the only way I'd be completely happy is if I made my own edit and stopped whining. That's not happening any time soon.

My first impression is that I like the faster pace and LOVE the way it ends. But it may have cut just a bit too much for me. The ideal would most likely be a middle ground between this and the Maple films edit.

I don't like how both fan edits minimize/omit Beorn as he was in the book. His stuff from the extended version should be included in these "more faithful to the book" edits.

:( I guess no fan edit is infallible.
The closest to that standard, in my opinion, if Adywan's Empire Strikes Back Revisited.

reply

Isn't Empire near-flawless as it is? Why change it?

reply

All I can say is give it a look.

reply

Nod. Will report back.

If you want to get an idea, I recommend watching this video:

NOTE: I do not fully agree with this guy's assessment of Star Wars: Revisited. While it is a cool fancut to view as a curiosity, Adywan tinkered too much with the flow of the film, adding new scenes, music that wasn't there, etc. However, this review is spot on about ESB revisited. It is my default version of the movie.

NOTE 2: Check out the Emperor scene in Adywan's version:

reply

Noted. Good stuff. I am watching the ESB revisited tonight with the BF, torrent finished downloading last night.

To be fair, I probably wouldn't want SLIMY girls in my treehouse either.

Remember this post back on IMDB? You must hate women, as there were no SJWs 55 years ago!

How can I see the 192 min version?

Does anyone know? Does this version eliminates Elizabeth Taylor scenes?

reply

What is your point? I wanted non Elizabeth Taylor scenes to be deleted. Either way, nothing can be deleted from the film, I made the exercise myself and the film suffered, it needs everything that is on the final cut, something that can't be said of any film produced today.

reply

"I wanted non Elizabeth Taylor scenes to be deleted."
Nope, you said the opposite. Are you senile?

reply

No, I was asking if it eliminated Elizabeth Taylor scenes, just to make sure.
