What's interesting here is that Disney forced movie theaters to run in the biggest screen for 4 weeks. It has been only 2.5 weeks by now. That means that movie theaters still have to run TLJ in their biggest screen for more than one week no matter people are not watching it.
It's likely that without it the box office had been even lower. Many people just watch the movie in the biggest screen, whatever the movie is, or only watch a movie provided it's in a big screen (watching it in a small screen, better watch it home).
Yeap, and that's likely to have strongly damaged Jumanji. The one near my house has two big screens. Right now, it's running Last Jedi and Insidious in the big ones. Jumanji has gone small screen.
I never considered how that screen monopolizing could damage the box office of other films. That's terrible. And people want Disney to own the whole world.
