I am old enough to have seen the original (1977) several times that year, and have always kept up to speed with the franchise- never bother with Lucas's three ''prequels'' though.

I'm sorry, but this film was a let-down, for me. Brilliant moments, but overall I felt that the film was not a worthy addition.

Watch prequels! Download or stream them online, if you have to. Compare the storytelling to these "new" ones. And you'll understand, that despite being rather weird, prequels have their own charm and style. And the story is quite good, sometimes too childish though.

If you can make it through Phantom Menace, you'll be fine with the other two. But I find Phantom to be just dreadful.

Lol...it is.

It has to be said that the acting in TLJ blows away almost all the performances in the prequels except for Ian McDermid's Palpatine( which is excellent).
