Will Episode 8 be a remake of The Empire Strikes Back?

I have a feeling they will follow the same recipe for this movie as well. Its basically going to be 3 remakes of the originals.

The video below was supposedly posted to Reddit (Via CBR) by a member of the Star Wars Celebration staff. As you can see, if seems to reveal that the title of Rian Johnson's follow-up to J.J. Abrams' The Force Awakens is going to be:

Star Wars: Fall Of The Resistance.

I sure hope this is a hoax.

I doubt it is.

Especially because the latest rumors say:

Rey is captured by Snoke/Kylo.

Last scene is reminiscent of last scene in ESB - Luke, Finn and 3PO are looking towards unknown space/landscape.

Mark, John and Anthony filmed that scene.

Thanks be to Ackbar for this vital information.

I hope not, but the ending of The Force Awakens seems to have set this up to be a remake of The Empire Strikes Back with Luke assuming Yoda's former role and Rey continuing to fill Luke's shoes.

"Have to say, Jimmy - you turned into a real impressive fighter. If I was ol' Mengsk, I'd be runnin' scared from you, too."
"You really mean that, Tychus?"
"Nah. I was just kiddin'."

It won't be. JJ Abrams is known for pretty much remaking things...especially Star Wars...whereas Rian Johnson is a pretty creative mind.

In part, yes. Rey\Luke already found Yoda\Luke. So they are a bit ahead of episode 4 at this point.

This is Kennedy's doing, though. She is a frothing feminist and she is no doubt remaking the old SW movies because they are "sexist" and not diverse enough.

I really doubt it. The movies listed as inspiration did not scream ESB clone to me.

Walker attack scene near the beginning, Luke/Yoda-Rey/Luke training scene in the middle, Rey/Kylo battle in last third?

reply

Part 1: girl from sand planet leaves to fight the first order and blow up a "death star"
Part 2: first order strikes back at the resistance and sends them into hiding.
Part 3: the resistance returns to defeat the first order and emperor, all is well again...
