Babadook
Amazing similarities to Babadook.
shareJust because 'Babadook' was a horror film you watched recently?
But ehh, no. While I respect your opinion these two films share no similarities at all. The only similarities I know of is that - besides both being good productions - they both have parents in it who are going crazy.
What similarities? I can't think of any. Babadook was a movie about GRIEF manifesting itself as a monster and this movie is about black magic possessing a man. Not at all similar in the least. Babadook was excellent as well though and I liked it a bit more than this one.
shareIt was similar in terms of pace and both leaning towards the more psychological aspect than the cheap scares but to say it had "amazing similarities" is pushing it

I don't know about amazing similarites, Babadook didn't do anything new as this didn't either but had genuinly creepy moments tho and worth a watch and I did think it reminded me of Babadook as well but not to the extent that it was a rip off or anything

The Canal was decent.. if not predictable and boring at times. The Babadook was absolute garbage. I had a hard time making it to the end of that movie cause it was so bad.. and I've sat through movies worse than most people could ever imagine.
shareI have tried many times to get through the Babadook. I just don't get the love for it. Especially when the ridiculous voice calls the mother on the phone. He sounded like an idiot.
shareThis movie bears no resemblance to "The Babadook" whatsoever, beyond the fact that it's also a horror movie whose principal two characters are a parent and a child. Sometimes I think certain posters on IMBD must have seen very few films tp believe that pointing out the faintest similarities between them constitute some shocking insight on their part. "Hey, a man in 'Taxi Driver' was carrying a gun! It's exactly like 'Rambo'!"
shareNot in The Babadook I saw.
