How will this do box-office wise?

Will this strike a nerve with America like American Sniper did and be a smash hit? Or will it be only a modest hit?

Pros:
- Good cast, director and script could lead to positive reactions, which could lead to a good word-of-mouth
- Kristen Stewart has a decently-sized fan base.
- It's coming out Veterans' Day weekend, which could be timely considering the subject matter.
- Oscar nominations could help out the movie later on if the movie doesn't come storming out the gate. The Academy does love Ang Lee.
- Ang Lee is generally a safe bet box-office wise.

Cons:
- Vin Diesel isn't a big draw outside the Fast & Furious franchise. Neither are Steve Martin, Chris Tucker, or Garrett Hedlund.
- The subject matter may actually prevent a good portion of midland America from seeing it, since the book doesn't exactly paint the Iraq War in the brightest light.
- The 120 frames per second may turn off a lot of people. The Hobbit was shot at 48 frames per second and was one of the most criticized aspects of that franchise.

It's getting very good reactions, so far. Hopefully, that'll carry over at the box office.

I'll be seeing it the day it comes out so that's 1 ticket at least.

Criticism of the war has pretty well saturated the culture by now - these kinds of movies all kind of passe by now - I don't think that will help it at the box office

Who cares. Box Office takings never indicates quality.

Who cares.
People who made this and people who plan to make other films like this and fans who want to see future films like this.

You pros and cons statements don't make any sense.
PROS- Kristen Stewart has a decently-sized fan base
Cons:
- Vin Diesel isn't a big draw outside the Fast & Furious franchise. Neither are Steve Martin, Chris Tucker, or Garrett Hedlund. Kristen Stewart has only had one hit in a lead role except the Twighlight Series which is for teenagers and kids anyways. The only other movie which she actually played a lead role but Charlize Theron was the main draw was Snow White and the Huntsman. So her fan base made up 10-20 year olds won't flock this movie. Vin Diesel on the other hand had hits outside the Fast franchise. Riddick franchise is a hit, its not a blockbuster franchise at the box office but makes a killing on its video games and DVD sales, XXX, Saving Private Ryan-A war film, so many of his fans numbered in the millions aged from 20-50 will see that movie.
